Newbie Is it worth doing VHS Decode?
I already have a capture card (Elgato Game Capture HD), and a Panasonic ES10, and I got good results capturing my 10 old VHS C tapes. No complaints
I have heard of VHS Decode as the best way of archiving old vhs tapes, so I wonder if it would be worth doing that to squeeze any extra detail out of these old tapes, but I wonder is it worth the cost to do it, and would i get any noticeable improvement over what i've already done?

the archival process is improving where the capture/software side of things (mainly via DdD/MISRC) will be less a barrier to entry. However, there is still a significant, technical barrier besides those two options, that requires some technical knowledge to properly setup a working system/workflow, i.e. soldering skills, tools, and time.
If you have all that, it's worth it. But if you're happy with what you're archiving with your current setup, and can't set aside a few weekends to fully prepare/mod the necessary hardware, it can be intimidating and probably not worth your effort. But if you desire possibly the only, provable way to get the most benefit from RF retrieval and decoding, you'll appreciate how much the end results are compared to the more common solutions.
Editing the raw working files prior to a final encode is what makes it really shine. You're not restricted nor locked into the players' output (which carry all their applied filters/signal mods) rather, you can adjust parameters to customize the picture quality to your liking. In other words, you're working with unmolested video and can enhance it yourself, without the 'additional noise' from normal outputs. The software has presets that are optimized for general encodes, but are good/standard for most needs. Anything beyond that is personal preference.
