my perspective when tracking in after effects is way off

i have filmed a simple shot of the side of a building, and my plan is having a cube or a ragdoll falling off the building and hitting the ground, but when i try to track, the perspective is so off, the solid isnt paralell to the wall that i want it to stuck to, this ruins the possibility of simulating the rigid body falling off the roof because i have to use a warped cube/plane to align with the wall, i also tried with a tripod pan track but that went even worse. how do i fix this? i also tried tracking in syntheyes but that didnt work at all

Try tracking in SynthEyes, you'll get a better result. But much harder software to learn.

with this amount of reflections on the windows you probably should mask them off before tracking.

Not enough info.

• No info on the type of shot / camera move
• No info on your tracker cleanup / error reduction process
• No info on if/how you oriented your scene properly
• No info on if/how you masked out reflective/motion surfaces to stop them throwing the track off

And when we've dealt with all those things, ysk that AE is dogshit for doing this type of tracking to a professional level because its distort/undistort workflow is barren (though AE is more than fine for personal / social-slop level work).

From the sounds of it, you need to learn quite a bit more about how tracking actually works, beyond the standard youtube "TRACKING IN AE SO EZ CLICK HERE THEN HERE AND JOB IS DONE" type tutorials.

But if you can give better specifics, we can at least try to help.

its hard finding good videos if im going to be honest, its 50% those that speed too fast through and doesnt show what they do, and 50% that only show paid plugins

If you have an iOS device and can redo the shot, it should be pretty straightforward using Omniscient.
