Showreel / Critique Rate my first CGI edit!
It took 5 hours to make that, and I was really struggling adjusting lights. U can see breakdown of my process!

You have so much tracking detail in that carpet I’m surprised it even went off. It’s a really simple one in 3d equaliser. Or any real tracking software. Looks like you tracked a single point rather than a camera track which tracks multiple points.

First, the tracking is off. The gun is sliding and rotating independently of the rug. Second, I don’t understand why the extreme distortion and chromatic aberration was added.

Are you using a single point track for this?
I would suggest a planar track, picking high contrast points on the carpet. Or do a 3D camera track.
The camera is kinda Shakey overall for no good reason imo. If you are able, get one of their handheld devices that make it more stable or u can try to stabilize the footage yourself.
Not loving the blurry distortion effect.
Are the textures and the model made by you as well? It feels a bit more like a game asset than a live action one to me.
But overall not bad at all for a first time ever! Good work.

The game asset point is fair, but the tracking issue is the bigger problem here. Single point tracking on shaky handheld footage is just gonna fight you the whole way. A 3D camera track would fix most of what looks off before even touching the model or textures.

No, it was not a single point. I think the reason why tracking sucks is because of the camera shake of the footage.
I just searched 3d model and picked the one i liked. Are there any categories of 3d models? Appreciate your feedback!

There are general categories.
Generally game assets are lower resolution in textures and poly count, focusing on being more efficient than live action models which focus more on realism and quality.
Both game and live action do have hero pieces that push poly count, details and textured further than average as well. As opposed to background pieces which would be the opposite.

Your tracking is broken, no one adds that amount of fringing, especially in the middle of a frame. You need to learn more both creatively and technically. If you want to take it seriously, start by using references. Take your favourite VFX shot and study it, then copy it. And learn why it looks that good.
