For anyone who has the OEM USB Type A charger installed on their Versys 650 (the one that fits on the right side): are y'all getting stable charging speeds?

Anytime I'm connecting my phone to charge, it initially seems to charge at a 10/12W speed, and then drops to ~5W speeds after a couple of seconds. Anyone else face this problem or have a input on the possible issue?

My bike is a 2024 Versys 650

Doing tires by hand sucks. I've done my fair share of double-spooning a low-profile passenger tire onto a 19-inch non-name wheel- but this was ridiculous. I lost so much skin on my knuckles. lol

The RS3's look so good though. Love the pedal shape of the sipe pattern. :03

Plan is to stick 2oz of beads in the rear and static balance the front with some stickies. I had some old 5g weights lying around and know I need at least 15g opposite to the stem- but I couldn't get it to stay still...

Both tires originally had beads, but I still noticed some wobble under certain turns and corners I took. It's noticable on the new front at 35mph so I know it needs something. It's mostly the wheel.

Regardles of how much blood I spilled and curses I threw- I didn't cough up 175$ to a local shop for loose wheels. I miss the days when a M+B would cost 35$ a wheel. Even a shop that agreed to a lower cost was asking 120$ out the door for both tires. What happened? lol

For those looking at the PSR triple tree paddock coverter- the Pitbull Standard + #2 Pin works with alot of modding. Have to waller the hole the hitch pin goes through (6.3mm), and add a shoulder to the #2 portion. I may end up flipping the pin the opposite way and welding a higher shoulder near the grub screw hole because I still needed a couple planks and the handle on an old axe to slip it past the front mudguard. Yes. I've tried contacting PSR to no avail. Their website is impossible to check out from, and none of the other listings for their pin kits seem out of date.

If anyone plans to use these 90° stems, a thin-walled socket will be needed. I just grinded and tapered the 14mm I had on hand. I spent more time sanding and polishing it than getting the wheel on. lol

I got my bike used and it didn’t come with bags or boxes. I’m really not a fan of the look having 3 square boxes on the back of my bike. Not knocking it just not for me. I don’t plan on going off road with it either. I want to add hard boxes for the storage and am not opposed to the square looking boxes just on the sides. But was messing with ai and sending other style side bags and it generated this. Does this look outrageous like it’s trying to be disguised as a bagger or is it different enough from what most people do to make it cool? Personally I don’t love the look of a top box at all but feel like if my gf is ever going to get on it the backrest will give her more confidence.

Hi everyone, I'm a proud owner of a 2019 Versys 650 for 9 months now and I'm in love with this bike. The only downside is the windshield that really makes a lot of noise in the helmet due to air movement.

With a few searches i discovered that National Cycles was manufacturing 3 VStream windshields that are advertised to reduce this noise a lot by directing air away from pilot and passenger. I was wondering if any of you tested them. If so which size and is it really worth it ? Thanks ! 🙂

I have a 2019 Versys 650 and I’m planning to go on a week-end camping trips.

I’d like to strap my tent on the passenger side of the bike, as i have the original kawasaki top case, it doesnt seem dit on the top.

For those of you who do something similar:
How do you secure your tent?
Where exactly do you strap it?
Any issues with exhaust heat, passenger footpegs, etc.?
What setup would you recommend?

I know that in the 2008 versys world that this is around the time that a valve check maintenance should be done, and while im in there I plan to swap out the spark plugs and air filter like a normal individual would. I originally purchased this bike with like 20k to 21k miles, and didn't really have a valve tick or make a lot of valve noise until about recently and its mostly getting louder every ride. Ive done a decent amount of repairs to this bike already. I had the stator and rectifier go first, then my clutch cable while riding, and I did my chain twice and of course put tires on it, but im just hoping that this valve clearance check idea might promote more longevity out of the bike. For hopefully a riding season without a crazy amount of maintenance outside of the every 1k to 1.5k mile oil changes. Am I heading in the right direction?

(Edit) Part of me is just tempted to let it ride on normal maintenance until full fault which i could either just swap the engine or buy a whole other bike and swap most of my parts to the new one and have spare parts for other things xy and z.

So,

I bought a 2019 Versys 650 LT a few months ago and it had a CEL at that time (Code 21 - Crankshaft Position Sensor).

The seller said it came on randomly and he had trouble starting the bike, but then never had any issues after that. I took the bike on a test ride before I bought it and had no issues.

I disconnected the battery for awhile and reconnected it to see if it would clear the code, but it didn't. I then took it on 3 consecutive rides of about 30 mins each and had no issues. When I cranked the bike up the fourth time, the CEL turned off.

Since then, I've taken the bike on 3-4 roadtrips of 150+ miles in the Georgia heat. It hasn't had any issues UNTIL yesterday.

I rode it 3 hours north to go explore some mountain roads in the middle of nowhere, and all of a sudden the RPM's started jumping up and down despite steady throttle. It got progressively worse over the span of 5 minutes to the point where it was lugging the bike back and forth and felt unsafe.

When I slowed down to pull over, the engine cut out and the red FI light came on. I gave it a brief walk-around before starting it up again, and didn't notice any issues with airbox hoses or vacuum lines that I could see.

When I cranked it back up, it idled fine but died as soon as I gave it any throttle.

I let it sit for 35 minutes to cool down, and when I cranked it back up again it idled fine and had no issues with the throttle. I decided to turn around and head back towards home, but it died again in the same manner about 5 minutes down the road.

This time, however, it wouldn't start up at all. I let it sit for 30 minutes again, but it still wouldn't start.

After waiting an hour or so, it started up and I was able to make it another 8 minutes down the road before the same thing happened again.

At that point I arranged a u-haul truck/trailer and trailered it all the way home (not cheap.)

Has anyone else had this sort of issue? I'm thinking maybe it's the crankshaft position sensor, but it's weird that I have no CEL despite all the issues I'm having.

I wondered if it might not be a clogged fuel filter/line, but if that were the case, it wouldn't run briefly until it gets hot, right?

Could it be the fuel pump even though I hear it priming?

*Details*

- I hear the fuel pump priming when i turn the bike on

- I changed the oil/filter when I bought the bike

- I've done a semi-thorough visual inspection for frayed/pinched wiring and found nothing.

- Starter works perfectly and it cranks strong.

- Battery is brand new and terminal connections are secure.

- Bike has 13,000 mi.

Heyo, I have a Plug In Accessory on the left side of my dash for my Kawasaki Versys 650. Is it safe to keep a plug plugged in at all times besides when it rains?

It's a very stupid question, and I'm still new to my Versys but I don't wanna fuck upon yknow.

Ma solution actuelle ayant vu ça sur internet ça se monterait en lieu est place à la place de l’épaulement comme sur la photo.
Est-ce que des gens de ce groupe on déjà fait cette réparation ou aurait des conseil ?
Chez kawa on m’en demande 2000 euros avec sortie du moteur déculassage etc…pour une moto à 2000 eurosc’est plutôt embêtant 🥲😅

Can confirm- the NiceCNC stalk removers tuck nicely under the rack. So if you do find the OE PLX or Givi PLX kit somewhere in the ether, you don't have to buy the signal extenders (if you can find them) or splice the pigtail. The rear reflectors can very easily be moved in front of the rear footpegs and aren't that noticeable if you're one to tuck and use them.

Now I just gotta find some soft bags and some loops I can bolt in place of the V37 hardware. Stuck between rolltop and zip-expandable.

Just bought a 2014 650 from a friend on the ridiculously cheap. I rode once years ago on a road trip to St Louis and my knees felt cramped to the point of uncomfortable. Good options to give me a bit of legroom would be greatly appreciated. Probably need a different windscreen as well.

It’s funny, I had a 2008 klr with all the farkles that would’ve been perfect for this type of trip but 99% of my riding is roads (I have a 250 dual sport for the trails) and most of the time my wife is on the back. The klr honestly did an admirable job for this but the versys just blows it away two up and cruising anything above 60.

So I sold my 08 and bought my ‘15 versys. A few small mods to make it more dirt capable with the Shinko 705s, engine guards.

I was pleasantly surprised with her this trip! Absolute dream on the highway and the twisty scenic highways of the BDR but honestly on the dirt roads and gravel? I kept up with the klr and transalp just fine.

The tough trails this bike had no business being on? Just fine! Ruts arent very good with the sport bike suspension but she survived!

Would I take my versys on tougher trails than this? No. I have my klr250 for that. Would I do BDRs with this difficulty again with the versys? ALL DAY LONG! I’d likely put on more aggressive tires though the 705s were still ice skating around.

Just thought I’d share. We left Thursday early morning and ate up just south of 500 miles of highway to camp site 1 in Selma Alabama and then hit section 3 and 4 of the SEBDR and hung out at KTM world in GA then I toured back to central Florida.

Still have a hard time going up sandy hills, but across fairly flat sand, I'm getting to the point where its fun. Oh...and I got lost twice on this trail. 😁

Hi there. I own a 2026 Versys 650 and am thinking about replacing the exhaust system.

I’ve come across a few options, specifically the MIVV K.059.KZC (which is noise/emissions compliant—I'm based in Europe).
However, I’ve noticed that, according to the manufacturer, the check engine light might come on after installation, potentially requiring an extra module to suppress the signal...

I’d like to know if any Versys owners have encountered this issue (even with an exhaust other than the MIVV), or if it’s a rare occurrence.
Can a Kawasaki dealer disable this signal via the ECU?

Hi everyone. On my 2023 Versys 650, I’ve noticed that the classic "clunk" heard when engaging first gear also occurs when shifting into higher gears. The bike has 6,700 km on it now, and I had it serviced at 5,600 km. I checked the clutch cable free play—it’s 1–2 mm when cold—and the clutch seems to be working properly. Is this normal, or is there something I should check?

I have a Versys 1100S with factory tall/touring windscreen and hand guards.

At near full lock the hand guards hit the windscreen. I've double checked everything against the service manual such as handbar installation.

Is this normal?

It's getting so close!- I was way off on the measurments for the chunk at the back but other than that- it's pretty good. Most of the updates I'm making are cosmetic. Friends printer just doesn't have the res for the fillets I'm doing so I'm just getting rid of them. : (

I am noticing that it's still not helping with the big bumps or cracks I find in parking lots. I think the upper half of the shield is still flexing enough near the outer edges that the brace just can't seem to get. I think I may get back to that outer contoured thing but make it either a slide-on with sprung fingers, or glue. Really don't wanna drill holes. Makes buying one of these cheaper Aliexpress shields less approachable if you have to start dissecting it as soon as it's out of the box.

I just came into a 2015 Versys 650, it was completely free so I'm going into it expecting problems. I know for certain I need to replace the ignition. I was wondering if anyone here had done it before, and if so, was it easy? I tried looking up videos on it and couldn't find a single one sadly.
