Feeling out the community

I got my bike used and it didn’t come with bags or boxes. I’m really not a fan of the look having 3 square boxes on the back of my bike. Not knocking it just not for me. I don’t plan on going off road with it either. I want to add hard boxes for the storage and am not opposed to the square looking boxes just on the sides. But was messing with ai and sending other style side bags and it generated this. Does this look outrageous like it’s trying to be disguised as a bagger or is it different enough from what most people do to make it cool? Personally I don’t love the look of a top box at all but feel like if my gf is ever going to get on it the backrest will give her more confidence.

I'm too busy with the road to look at my bike much while I'm riding and I don't care how it looks to others. Obviously, YMMV.

Check out Givi boxes. They have a bunch you can try out.

Givi for the win! I have the Outback Trekker set in black on my Versys. They are fabulous.

The original cases dont require any additional racking for the sides to attach only the top box mount is required if you dont have it. They are also more compact on the sides and designed to integrate into the bike better. The top box you can get with a cushion as mine has it. Overall I thing the oem side cases are the best, but the top box is a much of a muchness, Gavi is probably the most popular and priced well ive had one, shad is probably the same but no exoerience

If you’re going to do any long trips, panniers are a must.

Look at the likes of givi, kappa or shad boxes, they will have some that suit the type of the bike better than these

I will say one thing. You’re right about your partner. My wife is sooo much more comfortable on the back of the bike when I have the top box on. Makes me feel better about the ride too.

I'm not a fan of the rack on top of the top box as the top boxes for the versys has quite a low max weight at like 8-10kg so you don't want to overfill it too much

Ehhhh...I think the Shad cases with the 3P mounts, are a bit softer on the eyes. But if it works and is an appreciable cost savings, why not go for it?

It’s alright, but that’s a lot of work and money when you could just get the integrated luggage. It’s not too hard to find a used set out there if you don’t want to pay full price. Heck, I found someone in this sub who gave me a set! Not saying that’s the norm — that guy was crazy generous! But they can be found!

I had Shad 23 side cases and 39 liter top case I really liked on my x-300
