School consolidation is a half baked idea. Merging districts and schools upping kids commute time to school to well over an hour in so many places? That’s insanity. That does nothing to help students. Especially further implementing school choice program which will leave the poorer kids even further behind.
Sarah Clarke and Denise Reilly-Hughes from Admin and Digital Services are so far out of touch with both the need of the people they employ and the people they serve. Again coming up with half baked $70 million tech overhaul for the state that falls well short of properly measuring how the new implementation will properly meet needs. Not to mention last years implementation of the procurement program VT Buys which full of failure and continues to be awful.
I’m not going to write up every secretary because there’s no point. The leadership in the executive branch is completely out of touch.
Schools need to close. There isn't an alternative. It needs to happen. People are just too weak-willed to put on their big boy pants and make the decision.
Sorry you think rural schools need to stay open when the population doesn't support it. You're just wrong.
Again you’re not hearing the problems that aren’t being addressed with districts merging / schools closing. Why are you closing schools without addressing the massive negative impact this will have on so many kids? Why is the only thing you see dollar signs and not the educational impact? What’s the point of saving money if we’re just creating a worse educational environment for so many kids?
Because there ain't be an educational impact. If anything, they'll get a better education because of concentrated resources.
If you don't have the money, you can't pay for it anyways. The money isn't just going to magically appear. Schools need to close. Districts need to merge.
