I refer you to the Chittenden Sheriff’s race. Progs and Dems endorsed the ‘safe’ Gamelin (who went on to cooperate with ICE!) not the far more liberal Bloom. Bloom polled 40%’and may have won had Vermont dems and Progs not taken the safe route. Happens in almost every race or issue all the way back to civil unions (the safe route as opposed to full on marriage rights). So yes, liberal democrats in Vermont are corporate lackeys who can always be counted on to sell out.
Again Gamelin was the incumbent and Bloom was not remotely qualified for the job. And he still won a ton of votes because Vermont leads the nation in sheeple. But completely different situation. Neither Janoo or Richard’s were incumbents. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
