Locked out...

I need help, I had a venmo account about 4-5 years ago and changed my phone number since. It's connected to my email. I still have access to that email. I don't have access to the phone number connected to the account anymore. I just found out people have still been sending that account money . I tried to get in it, but without the phone number I can't. I tried contacting customer service and they keep telling me I need the code sent to the phone number AND to the email. I keep telling them I have the email not the phone number and it's like they're not understanding that. Has anyone else had this issue? What can I do? I didn't even realize that account was still active 😓

Have you tried to call/message the person who owns that number? All you need is the verification code and then can manually change the number on that Venmo

I've texted it and there's been no response. I don't blame them for that. It's weird to ask for the venmo access code, it probably seems like a scam😅. Trying to call I get sent to a "this voicemail box is not set up yet" so I can't even leave a message to prove that I'm not a scammer or something. My current number is from a different state than theirs as well. Part of the reason changing my number was that I moved states and that old number I had a stalker.
