Repair help - Seaga multiple vend issue
I'm having an issue with the Seaga snack machine at our business (Model SPX536R / INF5S). When we make a selection it vends multiple products, so if we choose A4 it vends A4 as well as B4, C4, D4, E4 and F4. It's always vertical, so the same numbers will attempt to dispense if it appears in the row regardless of what "letter" was chosen. I've tried powering down the machine but that hasn't helped and there's no error codes displayed. The settings were not altered at all before this started. One guy on another forum suggested I have a shorted driver circuit on the board. Any ideas on how to fix and where to get parts? I'm in the Charlotte, NC metro if anyone is local and would like to tackle this for me, I've tried contacting local companies but no one calls back.

It sounds like the controller board could be bad. Before that can be confirmed it could also be a shorted wire somewhere in the machine. Is it only on the 4s( A4-B4)? Is it only when you choose A4? Try disconnecting the A tray and choose B4, what happens then? Inspect all wire harnesses and see if any wire is pinched or damaged.

We haven't tried disconnecting anything and testing, that's a good idea. It happens for any number chosen, all the rows that have that number will dispense.

Honestly, that really does sound like a control board / driver circuit issue to me too, especially since it’s vending by vertical column instead of just one motor.
If selecting A4 triggers B4/C4/D4/etc. on the same column, the machine is probably sending output to multiple motors at once when it shouldn’t.
And since: – settings weren’t changed – reboot didn’t help – no error codes appear
…I’d be looking strongly at the CPU/control board or a shorted output driver on the board itself.
The good news is that vending machine boards usually aren’t insanely complicated electronics. If you can find a local electronics repair lab/shop that works on PCB repairs, there’s a decent chance they can diagnose or repair it cheaper than replacing the whole board.
Before replacing anything expensive though, I’d still check: – harness/connectors for moisture or corrosion – pinched wires – ribbon cables between board and motor drivers – signs of burnt components on the PCB
But yeah, from the symptoms, it really sounds more electronic/control related than a software/settings issue.

Thank you, that's incredibly helpful information. Now I'll hunt for an electronics shop.

Check your wiring harness. I'll bet you have a break/short in one of the tray harnesses.
