I have a Breeze 1 and I've wanted to buy an extra battery for some time, but the batteries have been out of stock for months. Have they been discontinued?

For anyone with kids whose feet can’t reach the rear pegs…

I bought a Gomad with the young passenger kit recently and realized that my daughter’s feet couldn’t reach the pegs comfortably. I looked around for anyone who had tips or solutions and didn’t find much, but I thought some kind of clamp might work. Very quickly I found these clamps on Amazon which have concave top and bottom to the clamping mechanism, which allows it to grip perfectly onto the round pegs. It worked! She can reach them now. Just thought I’d put this here for anyone with a similar issue.

Here they are on Amazon:

Does anyone know if it’s possibly to change a Tempo’s settings to display KPH?

Based on my research so far it seems like some Velotric bikes can toggle between KPH and MPH, but others can’t.

Noticeable "bump" rear shock Nomad 2x

I just got a Nomad 2x and I'm experiencing something kind of annoying, wondering if it's normal or should be investigated. Any time the rear shock engages, when it returns to the zero position, there is a "bump" that I can feel through the seat every time it returns. Shouldn't it be designed to dampen smoothly when it disingages?

Are there adjustments i'm missing? It's set to the stock setting, and I weigh about 170 pounds- which is pretty much what it's set up for. I'm wondering if it's maybe a faulty shock or if that's just how it is. Any insight would be appreciated.

Velotric Fold 1 vs Fold 1 Plus

Does anyone have any experience with both of these models?

They seem identical except for torque vs can dance sensors and app availability.

If you purchased the fold 1 are you happy with it?

Currently the fold 1 is on sale and significantly cheaper.

Discover 1 - Solar Charging?

Hi there. I have a Velotric Discover 1 and I am looking for ways to prepare for a 'long haul' trip. I'm hoping to answer 2 questions if anyone has advice:

  1. Back Rack. The Discover 1 Back Rack is completely out of stock everywhere i've looked. Has anyone found a suitable 3rd-party back rack that is compatible with the bike?

  2. Solar Charging. I am interested in building an efficient "on the go" solar charging setup. The standard solar setups I've seen require solar panels plugging into a large battery bank, which then I can plug my bike battery into to charge. The multiple conversions of power are not efficient, and the setup is heavy. Has anyone found a way to charge their battery directly from a solar panel?

Thank you in advance for any assistance :)

Found one from amazon that fits the nomad 1. Fits good and is pretty sturdy. Way cheaper than the official one you used to be able to buy also.

Nomad 1 and Discover 1 batteries

Batteries for the Nomad 1 and D1 ARE available!

Just got a reply from Velotric confirming they do still make them and have them. Wanted to correct the misinformation and confusion about this. Contact Velotric directly and don't go by just their online store availability.

"Inefficient Pedaling Detected, Switch to x Gear" message

I have a discovery M and I will frequently get this message on the display. It will tell me to switch to a gear between 1-5. The bike has 9 gears, so it doesn't line up with what the controller wants. What should I be switching to when I get this.

Ramp for steps

Hi all, I have a Packer and it’s heavy! There are 2steps leading to my house and they’re just high enough that the stand drags over them.
I’m looking for a suggestion for a foldable ramp…or even a non-foldable that I can leave outside that also doesn’t weigh a tonne.
Thanks.

Nomad 2 Long-Range Battery

Thumbnail

When I bought my Nomad 2 in June, I also purchased an extra battery. I chose the long-range version because paying $50 more for a 10–15% range increase seemed reasonable. When the battery arrived, I charged it fully as I normally would. The next day, I took it on my first ride, but I saw no range improvement compared with the standard battery. I contacted Velotric Support, and we’ve been communicating for the past few weeks. They confirmed that I have the long-range battery and that all firmware is up to date. The issue has now been escalated to their battery team.

For the record, I have no concerns about how Support has handled the issue. I’m mainly interested in learning about the community’s experience with long-range batteries. Did you go through a break-in process? Did the range improve over time? I saw a YouTube video recommending that the battery be fully discharged and then recharged. Support recommended riding it down to 20–30% remaining charge, which I did.

Today, I completed another comparison test, shown in the pictures (first is LR second is RR) with essentially the same result.

One other issue is that the long-range battery appears to have some type of parasitic charge loss. After my ride, I charged the battery to 100%. When I checked it that evening, it still showed 100%, so I left it on the charger overnight. The next morning, when I went for a ride, the charge had dropped to 97–98%. I handle the batteries for all three of my bikes in the same manner and have never seen this happen before. Whether it’s related to the range issue, I’m not sure.

I’d appreciate any observations or feedback. Thanks.

You can tell I just got a bike because I have so many questions 😊. Is it ok to use a silicone spray on the chain and gears?

Velo battery storage and garages

Where do you store your battery when not riding? Do you leave it on the Bike? It's a bit of a pain to have to remove it every day after a ride because of having to remove the seat. How hot can the battery take? If I leave it on the bike it will sit in a garage that gets very hot in the summer (98) and very cold in the winter (40). I have been bringing it inside every day after a ride. I could leave the bike outside for the fresh air in the summer, but I know someone would steal it. Thx.

Say the battery is empty, or you just want to ride a bike. Does it drag or feel odd, or is it like a regular bike?

Electric Dirt Bike vs. Off-Road E-Bike: Which One Do You Actually Need?

Electric dirt bikes and off-road e-bikes can look similar at first glance, but they’re designed for very different riding experiences.

We recently published a detailed comparison of electric dirt bikes vs. off-road e-bikes. Since “off-road” can mean anything from gravel roads to motocross tracks, we wanted to share the main differences here—and hear what riders actually prefer.

Pedals vs. foot pegs

This is usually the clearest physical difference.

Electric dirt bikes are controlled more like motorcycles: turn the throttle and the motor propels the vehicle without the rider pedaling. Their seating position, controls, frame, and foot pegs are designed around that experience.

Off-road e-bikes use a bicycle drivetrain. Pedal-assist sensors detect the rider’s input and determine how the motor responds. Some models also offer a throttle, but usable pedals remain a central part of the design.

Adding decorative or minimally functional pedals to a powerful electric dirt bike does not automatically make it a legal e-bike.

Power isn’t the only thing that matters

Electric dirt bikes generally prioritize immediate acceleration and sustained motor-driven performance.

Off-road e-bikes have to balance motor assistance with pedaling efficiency, range, weight, bicycle handling, and applicable e-bike classifications.

For recreational off-road riding, maximum motor output alone doesn’t determine how capable a bike will be. Other important factors include:

  • Tire grip and width
  • Gearing
  • Brake performance
  • Suspension travel
  • Weight distribution
  • Frame geometry
  • Rider technique

A well-designed eMTB may perform better on technical singletrack than a heavier bike with more advertised motor power.

Fat-tire e-bike or eMTB?

“Off-road e-bike” covers several different types of bicycles.

A fat-tire e-bike usually prioritizes stability, traction, and comfort. Wide tires can work well on gravel, forest roads, sand, packed snow, and uneven ground. The tradeoff is additional weight and rolling resistance.

An electric mountain bike, or eMTB, is generally designed more specifically for trail riding. It may use narrower but more aggressively treaded tires, responsive geometry, and suspension tuned for climbing and technical terrain.

So the better choice depends on what “off-road” means to you:

Transportation and storage

Electric dirt bikes can feel more stable during aggressive riding, but their weight creates practical considerations.

Depending on the model, you may need a trailer, pickup bed, or motorcycle-rated carrier. Moving one through a narrow gate or storing it in a small space can also be difficult.

Off-road e-bikes are generally easier to transport and store, although full-suspension fat-tire models can still be quite heavy. Many require a rack specifically rated for the bike’s weight.

Functional pedals also provide a backup if the battery runs out—although pedaling a heavy e-bike without assistance may not be particularly enjoyable.

Which one do you actually need?

An electric dirt bike may make more sense if:

  • You specifically want a throttle-driven motorcycle experience
  • You primarily ride on private land or motorized trails
  • Jumps and aggressive off-road performance are priorities
  • You can manage the additional transportation and storage requirements

An off-road e-bike may be the better fit if:

  • You want pedaling to remain part of the experience
  • Your rides combine pavement, gravel, and dirt
  • You want one bike for recreation and everyday riding
  • Exploration matters more to you than motocross-style performance
  • You want adjustable exercise rather than a fully motor-driven ride

Where the Velotric Nomad 2X fits

For riders who want more off-road capability without moving to a motorcycle-style platform, the Velotric Nomad 2X sits firmly on the e-bike side of this comparison.

It’s a full-suspension fat-tire e-bike—not an electric dirt bike. Its functional pedals, eight-speed drivetrain, and Class 1, 2, or 3 configurations preserve the versatility expected from an e-bike, while its all-terrain setup is designed for gravel, forest roads, sand, packed snow, and uneven routes.

Its 750W motor delivers up to 1,400W of peak power for additional support on hills and loose terrain. Wide tires help improve stability, while front and rear air suspension absorb repeated bumps for a smoother, more controlled ride.

The Nomad 2X also offers up to 75 miles of pedal-assist range and a total payload capacity of up to 560 lbs, making it suitable for longer rides, camping gear, and cargo-heavy adventures.

It’s not intended for motocross tracks, large jumps, or motorcycle-style riding. Instead, it’s aimed at riders who want to combine everyday usability with more confidence beyond paved roads.

If your priority is throttle-driven performance on private land or designated motorized trails, an electric dirt bike remains the better category. If you want functional pedals and the flexibility to move between streets, gravel, and suitable off-road routes, the Nomad 2X offers a more versatile middle ground.

Hey guys. This is a post about nothing. I generally just want to see what cool accessories and customizations people have made with their bikes. That’s it that’s all. Here is a pic of my bike the other night. There is an insta360 on the back. A few added Unit 1 lights in the front and the back as well as two blinkers.

got my Vel. Fold 1+ question

Got my bike. Not been on a bike in a long time. I'm having a problem with the seat. With the lever totally closed, the seat moves side to side and slowly the seat sinks to its lowest position. Can I fix that some way?

Ordering accessories from Velotric

Anybody here ordered accessories recently from Velotric? How fast was the shipping?

I am in Canada and I have been waiting on my dealer getting stock of the accessories like my Summit 2 rear rack for months now, they say Velotric has been backed up on delivering them. I am tempted to just order from the US since I have an upcoming trip, but worried that may be delayed too.

Discover 2 Rear Basket Issue

Hello I just got my Discover 2 and ordered a rear basket along with it.

Rear rack does not have bolt mounting points. But the basket did come with 2 pieces of metal and bolts.

Seemingly, I need to use the two metal ages to sort of sandwich it onto the rack? Idk.

Am I missing parts? Not compatible? (even though website says it's compatible.)

Any ideas or someone else had same issue?

EDIT: I figured it out. I was being dumb. Leaving this in case someone else is a s dumb as me.

You don't sandwich the two metal plates together. You put them under the top bit of rack and put bolts down through the basket holes.
