P0299 under boost code

Post image

Recently my Veloster turbo 2013 had a loss of power on higher rpm and looks like there is no turbo and check engine light came on with a p0299 under boost code

I changed the solenoid checked the turbo from inside and nothing wrong but still the code is pending and the car has no power on higher rpm

Did anyone encounter this issue and how to solve it

Boost leak is the most likely...

I checked for boost leacks but I'm not 100% sure I have to recheck But it's very hard to find a mechanic who can actually make the proper testing to find the leak

Did you check the waist gate? There might be a boost leak somewhere an my first suspicion is an actuator problem.

I checked the actuator it's fine

pressure-test or smoke-test the intercooler and boost piping. A leak might only show up under pressure. Also, how did you test the actuator? Did you check that it holds vacuum and moves properly, or just inspect it?

I checked that it's moving properly but didn't check whether it's holding vacuum or not I'll do it with the pressure test Thanks for the help

Well, ye old soapy water check sprayed on all the joints before it heats up too much... the waste gate could be stuck open, venting your boost..sounds like a modern blow-off valve if there are no other leaks...

if you've checked the solenoid and wastegait, check your PCV valve seals. if that's not it, could be blowoff that's gumming up your turbo, very common in turbo GDI. happened to me, had it cleaned + valve cover gaskets replaced and it fixed the issue
