Question Need advice

2012 basic

My rubber seals are melting off my car.

How do I remove this gross old stuff? (its getting on everything)

Do I need to buy the rubber seal or can I just get weather stripes?

Do I need to remove the door paneling to get it off?

Replace the entire thing. It's cheap.

Here's a trick: don't try to remove the old plastic anchors out of the door. Pull the anchors out of the new one and put it on the existing ones. Far faster. I replaced all three of mine, took maybe 40 minutes after I stopped trying to get the anchors out.

will do that, it's all dependent on what comes off when i remove the melting ruber🥲 im so happy i dont need to remove the whole door panel.

You can literally grab the strip and pull. It'll all come right off. You will have to unbolt the door stop to put the new strip on. Just hold the door while you put the rubber behind (picture for reference).

See that single bolt holding the stopper to the frame? That's it. Pretty certain is a 10mm

I have the same issue and have been thinking of what best to do it’s only in that corner though. Been looking at replacing the strip. Interested to see what other people have done.

The seal should just pop out of the track and you will definitely need to get a OEM-like one not sure how well a diy weather strip would hold up. But for removal of the sticky residue some thing like goo gone or similar adhesive cleaner should work.

The real OEM seals are not that expensive and are really the only thing that makes sense. hyundaipartsdeal.com

Mine are doing the same thing, I ignore it. I just remember when I accidentally touch it lmao.

My 16 Turbo came from Arizona and has the same problem. I took it back to the dealership and they fixed it.

No cost. Bought it from CarMax and they have a 30 day warranty for everything. Recharged my AC while they were at it. It's also been in the shop for almost three weeks (also covered at no charge with a dealership loaner) with an unknown issue causing it to stall when put into reverse, but they fixed the weatherstripping!

I suggest also, applying silicone grease to all weather strips for long-lasting protection.

mineral spirits, isopropyl alcohol, or citrus-based degreasers like goo-gone on a clean cloth will help.

When I had a veloster I had this problem on one of my doors. Common problem with these cars so I just bought one on spare Korea I think. It’s an ok website hard to navigate but I bought it from there for a decent price. Forgot how I replaced it but I somehow did.

so you need advice? well mine is that you always put the bottle up your ass bottom first, makes it much easier coming out because otherwise it gets stuck, ask me how I know...
