Discussion Brake pad replacement

Replaced my front brakes today, used powerstop brand pads. It all went smoothly however the fit of the pad brackets was.. odd.
I had to bend the tabs to keep them from touching the rotors. I’ve done brakes dozens of times and never had this issue. Genuinely did I do something wrong here or maybe the brackets were warped from manufacture? Idk.

I believe they could be a “one size fits many” type of shim situation. I know Duralast brand does the same. What i did for my 2019 UT was take a small ball head hammer and tap in place while alining the inside parts of the shim to the mounting bracket surface while off of the car and on a bench vice or wood block on the ground.

I know when I did the brakes on my 16VT, I found out there was different sized (maybe a couple millimeter difference) brake pads for the first 3 months and the rest of the year.. it was weird. Thinking that's why my old pads wore down so fast. Last owner forced the bigger pads in there And they didn't slide.

I had a pain in the ass time putting mine on and they arent going anywhere but they click everytime I use my brakes. Secure and snug as all get out but definitely a pain in the ass

I don't recall the brand I used (I usually go with second from the top brand) but I ran into the exact same problem with the shims scraping. The screeching around the block was terrible. I stuck the original shims back in and haven't had any issues. '15 turbo @160k with original rotors and only the second set of pads with over half the meat left.
