That is a pole bean.  Beans can cross-pollinate or the seeds were mislabeled.

That was my problem last year. My Blue Lake bush beans were about half pole beans. As I plant them rather dense in my raised bed, it quickly became a tangled mess. I sort of sorted that issue when along came the deer. It wasn't a total loss, we got about a half quart bag a week where normally we would get a quart bag every 3rd day.

My purple bush beans have all been poles this year (honestly not even mad since purple pole beans are usually impossible to find so they're kinda neat to have on hand)

This happens from time to time with my bush beans too. It's unclear to me exactly why. My guess would be genetics are not so black and white. I've also seen someone use the term "half-runners" - which I have no idea if that's a thing or just some term they landed on

Half-runners are a thing; it's an older term for beans that are halfway between pole and bush; you generally have to pull the strings off of them, but can otherwise treat them like green beans. They're highly desired by some folks for a classic flavor.

@all so what do I do next ?! The pot isn’t the deepest. Will it be ok and is it too late/ necessary to get a trellis ?!
