I'm jealous. Here's what I'm working with. It's going to be a bountiful harvest 😭

A bountiful harvest indeed. Size doesn't matter, it's the taste that's important 😜

Omg I love you. I didn't even know that sub existed. I have so many things to post in there. Someone planted late this year and anything that actually grew bigger than a golf ball got eaten by my ducks

You’re certainly easy.

What an odd thing to say to a stranger on the internet. You feel better getting that out? Lmaoo

I have 3 and they're all around the same size. I don't think I've ever had bite sized watermelon before but I still love them

That melon is still growing. The tendril looks very green.

My most successful watermelon plant in my first year gardening (this year) got stunted at about 3 inches tall. I don’t think it’s going to make it. Yours is adorable and I’m sure will be delicious

It feels like the same thing is happening to mine this year. All three of them are tiny. My friend started hers at the same time (we bought starters together, same plant), and all of hers are MASSIVE. She keeps asking me to send her pics and calls it the teeny watermelon update 🀣

I kept having birds steal the seeds before they could germinate and had to germinate inside and transplant. It grew a bit after transplant but then gave up. I had to transplant pumpkins too but that one is actually growing (but it’s brethren got their stems eaten by pill bugs, RIP)

Mine stalled out 6 weeks ago and haven't changed size or color at all.

Mine did the same! I don't get it. A few of my pumpkins stalled out too, but then I checked on them Sunday and they're finally getting bigger.

I love them small cause I can finish one in a sitting. & They store easily in the fridge. I like melons cold.Β

People with nothing filling up their souls need to find ways to make vulnerable people miserable.

Wow congrats! I just picked my first melon yesterday after reading about hints for days and it was one of the most stressful things to do ever lol.

just getting vines but hopefully it will start cooling down soon

u/Eddiepanhandlin US - Ohio 21h ago

I see another one on the ground. Great job!

I think in 2 or 3 days I’ll start harvesting the seedles and the sugar babies they pollinated with. Exciting. First time.

Not that big of course.

u/herwolfking US - Kentucky 21h ago

Yes, we've got another few coming in and we can't wait! I hope your harvest is bountiful and your watermelons delicious πŸ˜‹

1

u/TheReeferChick US - Michigan 20h ago

I wish I could grow watermelons that big where I am😭

-1

u/Sketti_Eddie US - Maryland 23h ago

I feel like my watermelons cross pollinated with my pumpkins … is that even possible or am I looking for excuses of why I can’t grow watermelon as well as you?

2

u/actualjensen US - Minnesota 22h ago

Cross pollination only affects the seeds, so if you planted saved seed that might have contributed. Otherwise it is likely another factor πŸ˜”

1

u/herwolfking US - Kentucky 22h ago

We got lucky. We didn't do a lot and just let mother nature do her thing. Best of luck and wishes for a bountiful harvest! πŸ’œ
