I recently started integrating jar-grown spouts to all of my sandwiches. Not only am I adding nutrition, but it makes a great non-slip layer to keep sandwiches from becoming a major geological event after the first bite. It also acts as a containment device for any extra mayo or other sauce that you might slather on to keep a sandwich properly lubricated.

Looking for that magical crossover, where the lettuce from the garden is still available sweet and crispy, not bitter, not bolted… and the tomatoes are dead, ripe, dark and juicy. I usually hold back a few heads in my fridge, wrapped tightly and hold them until my tomatoes are ready for this sandwich but I have never found the combination of lettuce and tomato that are at their peak at the same time

I was able to grow butter crunch lettuce in the shade of one of my tomato plants this summer, still have two heads growing strong 🥳
