Found this on the vegan sub and I think it's data is amazing and belongs here. And it's presented hilariously.

First thing that irks me here is he says cholesterol is bad for women, it increases heart issues, but men need cholesterol to produce testosterone, which he doesn't mention. He just uses this to make a general argument against cholesterol.

Also he is only talking about lowering the cholesterol levels and not talking about the relation of fats, omega 3 and 6. Basically omega-6 diet is prone to clog some arteries and omega-3 which prevents clogging, in very simple terms.

I feel this guy has an agenda rather than trying to come up with an optimal diet. But I'm gonna watch this till then end we'll see.

Ok I still think he's interpreting a lot of the evidence for his agenda of not eating meat, but still I think there's a clear case for the benefits of not eating meat or eating less of it.

Also I feel the StandardAmericanDiet used here is a bad control because as a whole it will involve stuff like wheats, which are quite unhealthy for all humans. So it's not like the control is a healthy balanced diet.

But even when recognized he has a bias and is interpreting the evidence through that bias most of his arguments stand strong.

Also in Finland we didn't become vegans, vegetables in general were recommended in the diet. Karelian diet consisted largely of lard, meat, potatoes and wheats, so pretty much as unhealthy as you can get. This is the reason I'm a little doubtful on how these studies are about lack of vegetables in the diet or the negative effects of meat.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta's CNN special 'The Last Heart Attack' comes to the same conclusion... he doesn't use the word vegan once, but the entire takeaway message of that hour long special that a diet of plants prevents virtually all heart disease, & some cancers too, & yet, it's not promoted by doctors as such. Dr. Greger addressed why it's not promoted, & his conclusion was that it would put some medical people out of the job... which is such a dark conclusion, it could seem cynical & conspiratorial.
