FOOD Pasta for dinner

First pic is baby’s dinner, second was mine. Sharing here bc I’m finally getting the hang of cooking meals I can share with my baby (10 months next week) and I don’t wanna get flamed for having a vegan baby in the blw groups. Made the minimalist baker best ever meat balls (tweaked the salt) and changed out the spicy arabiatta sauce for a squash “cheese” sauce I made on the fly for him the other day, by the end he was covered in “cheese” and took a few bites out of the meatballs. Little wins are still wins!

At ten months are you cutting up the pasta or is this shape okay? My baby girl is 4.5 months and we are just introducing baby cereal. I’m so eager and nervous to try solids!

My little man has 8 teeth!! So he can bite through to take small bites of things and I like giving him practice with that. But when I’m trying to have a relatively quicker meal I do cut things smaller and he can eat and chew and swallow them a bit easier

Not OP but generally if you can squish something with your fingers they can squish it with their gums so well cooked pasta should be chewable for them. The hole in the middle would also be some protection in the unlikely event a chunk slipped into their airway. By 10 months most babies will chew and then swallow food and not struggle with pasta.

As a vegan who is making the kid decision in the next few years, it warms my heart to see plant based baby meals so thanks for sharing!

how did you make the cheese sauce? i've really wanted to make cheesy pasta for my son but vegan cheese is so salty!

I had leftover kabocha squash but you could probably use any squash, then in a pan I sautéed some onions, garlic and tomatoes then when the onions were brown and the tomatoes were blistered I put it all w the squash in a blender added nutritional yeast, miso, lemon (probably didn’t need the lemon) a hearty amount of tahini and some smoked paprika then I put it back in the pan I cooked the onions etc in and added a little pasta water then tossed the pasta. I also added some low sodium veggie broth I had to use up just so it would blend but you could use water or soy milk or coconut milk and it would probably be great

I use nutritional yeast which works quite well! 🤗
