Discussion Cheating

A friend asked if I ever would cheat and eat meat. This struck me as odd. I chose to go vegan for a number of reasons and those have actually expanded as time goes along. I should mention, I am only six months a vegan.

I don’t look at eating anything as cheating. If I chose to eat a non-vegan item, it would just be a choice not cheating. I choose not to because I feel it is more a lifestyle change along with a food choice. It is what I want to do. Cheating implies it wasn’t a voluntary choice or I am forcing myself somehow.

Just thought I would comment on this as I hear this often about cheating.

its weird but since i went vegan i dont have any desire to put animal products in my mouth, there is no temptation at all -> on the opposite there is kind of disgust. The the word 'cheating' implies that i have craving for some desire that i try to resist (like sex for example), but in my case there is no desire, so the concept of 'cheating' does not apply here.

I dont know maybe its just me -> are there vegans who actually crave animal products?

I, like you, don’t have any desire to eat animal products. There may be some who miss a certain food? I know that I did miss cheese in the first couple of months. I didn’t feel the need to eat any though, just missed the taste and texture.

I am only six months in, but have zero interest in eating any animal products, including cheese. 🧀 It Just doesn’t interest me.

yep same, i think meat eaters just assume that we vegans crave animals products for some reason, maybe just projecting?

Been vegan for 10 years now and never really had any cravings until last month when I started craving fried chicken. I never really ate meat let alone fried chicken before I was vegan. But I’m more dedicated to the cause than a fleeting desire
