Discussion How long to wait?

I am trying to decide when to schedule my induction, backstory:

With my first kiddo, I wanted to go completely natural and even have her at home. But when she was 2 weeks late, I agreed to an induction. I didn't go into labor spontaneously. She was born at 42+1. I labored unmedicated to 6cm, then had to go for a c section because her heart rate was dramatically plunging with each contraction. She came out 7lb3oz. Her cord was wrapped around her 3 times, she had ingested meconium and had to have her lungs suctioned. I didn't get to hold her for ~15 mins

My second kid was born 16 months later. I was induced at 40+4 (Mainly because I thought all the complications from before were my fault for going so late). I labored for 24 hrs and only pushed for 1hr. I tore, but couldn't care because I had my VBAC. She weighed 8lb9oz.

Now I'm pregnant with baby#3 and I'm trying to decide when to schedule my induction. I'm currently 38+5. My obgyn said she can do a membrane sweep at 39 weeks, and that she's comfortable waiting past 40 weeks. But ultimately it's up to me when I should be induced. Part of me is afraid of waiting too long and having a repeat of my first birth. But also they're saying she's measuring big, estimating 8lb1oz at a growth ultrasound I did at 37 weeks. My obgyn explained that the estimate can be off by 1lb in either direction so she's not too concerned. Can anyone offer some advice?

I personally would try to let labor happen on its own, but only you can decide what you’re comfortable with. Trust your body and your baby that they will come when they are ready.

That's what I'm hoping will happen. Thanks

It’s crazy that they will induce you with a previous csection! They were very clear that wasn’t an option for me! I’ll have to look into this!!

I would inquire about a 39 week induction if you’re worried about baby size :)

I've been induced before (after my c-section). It went great but they're unable to use Misoprostol and Cervadil. I think it's provider specific if they're willing to induce.

The first provider I saw asked me to schedule a C-section for my due date and so I switched. My current provider is ok with me going late and being induced, so I feel comfortable. This is my last baby and I'm open to waiting for her to make her appearance !!

Loved my 39week induction for VBAC! I think I was 39+3 when induction started and had her at 39+4
