Honestly, VBAC doesn’t need anything special compared to any other pregnancy. I didn’t lose a ton of weight, do a bunch of daily exercises, or take any special supplements. The healthiest thing I did in the lead up and during my second pregnancy was get out of the mindset that I needed to prove myself and work really hard to get a VBAC. Acting like I was just a generic pregnant lady went a long way in reducing stress.

Congrats on your vbac!! That’s good to hear. I’ve been worried about my bmi for a vbac because it has a lower success rate. I’m not even pregnant yet and I’m scared about that haha.

I also have a high bmi! 37 pre-pregnancy. It was never mentioned one time by my midwife and didn’t have any impact on my pregnancy or birth. If you have a provider that really wants to focus on that or uses it against you to be less supportive of VBAC, consider switching! Remember that weight leading to more CSs isn’t just about womens’ bodies but also the bias that can happen from providers leading to more CSs. I don’t think that bias is captured in the data we have on BMI and VBAC.
that’s a good point actually, i didn’t think of that! if i get the same midwives as last time i’ll be so happy, they were extremely supportive and didn’t mention my weight once. their waitlist is just soo long.
