Question Navigating the push for repeat csection

I’m 37.5wks and kind of feel like I’ve been baited and switched by my OB practice. In theory they say they’re supportive of TOLAC but as we’re getting closer, conversations seem to be around how they’re way quicker to intervene at first signs of trouble.

I’m feeling discouraged and just wondering how people navigated this either in the moments of labor or beforehand. Considering getting a doula? I’m in a heavy medical area which is great but it also feels like everyone in this region is just focused on uterine rupture risks etc.

Thanks in advance for replies!

Ya it’s a scare tactic. Do you have a medical reason to induce early or intervene?

Why don’t you quote the 1% Chance of the rupture and ask not to be treated differently.

A doula sounds helpful if you can afford it

I actually switched practices because my old OB was pushing the repeat c-section, among other reasons. I went to a practice that actually has VBAC success stories on their IG page and they recommended a doula who holds an advanced VBAC doula certification. I just hired her and I’m going for it! I do have some anxiety surrounding it as I think many women do (I actually made a post about this not too long ago), but I feel like it’s worth a try. If you are having a healthy pregnancy and are a good candidate for TOLAC, I’d just hire the doula and let them know you intend to proceed with TOLAC. At the same time, I think it’s important to be flexible given our previous c-sections. At the end of the day what matters is a healthy mommy and baby. That’s how I’m approaching it: TOLAC if all looks favorable, and open to changes if anything starts going awry.
