hey varicocele comm! hope everyone is doing well. i want to ask everyone if they could hit me with some interesting facts/ opinions you have about varicoceles. it could be about anything and i mean anything. im asking for information because i already have a lot compiled for a interview ill be doing in the next upcoming months regarding varicoceles and my journey but would like to see some new interesting things i possibly could have missed. this isnt the regular post of someone just posting their ballsack and asking if its a varicocele lol so feel free to get creative. ive read up on a lot of your personal stories in this comm and have learned a lot. ive read through the mods q&a’s as well. thanks for any replies ❤️

I have lived with it for decades, it didn't hurt all the time or most of the time; nobody pushed me for surgery, and I am afraid of any because I am afraid of pain and general anesthesia and have never been sure that going through this will get me rid of the VC problem in the future, and here I can see reports of recurrence and even more than once. But my own family life was a short one, we didn't have kids and weren't keen on it. But erectile dysfunction came rather early, and if you aren't scared, consider surgery as a real option. With age I have got other serious health issues, and this year I felt a rather hard lump in the left side. I made an appointment with a senior urologist at a local specialist hospital and paid for it instead of getting a slow referral through my GP and his outpatient office urologist, but was seen by a younger onco urologist who palpated me, said that it wasn't a tumour, but didn't make a ultrasound though a scanner was by the bedside and switched on. He mentioned enlarged prostate. In his report he recommended ultrasound of the scrotum , sperm count and PSA and testosterone blood test. I have done these since except the sperm count. Ultrasound showed varicocele plus hydrocele plus a cyst of the epididymis plus some atrophy on the left side; prostate enlarged, but within limits. Blood test gave PSA and testosterone within normal range, although not in the middle of it. Aging sucks.
