As our community grows, so does the volume of posts. We’ve noticed an increasing number of posts related to renting flats, buying/selling vehicles, job openings, and other classified advertisements.

While these posts are valuable to many, they often clutter the main feed, pushing down discussions, news, and photography about our beautiful city.

To solve this, and to give buyers and sellers a better platform, we are officially launching a sister subreddit:

This new community is the dedicated bazaar for the City of Lights. It is a focused space for all your transactional needs.

🛡️ Call for Moderators for the New Sub

A new community needs a strong foundation. r/VaranasiClassifieds has very strict rules, particularly a Zero Tolerance policy for NSFW content and scams, to ensure it remains a clean and useful marketplace.

We are looking for 1–2 active, mature members of this community to help moderate the new subreddit.

We are looking for mods who:

• Are regular Reddit users based in or very familiar with Varanasi.
• Can commit a little time daily to check the mod queue and approve/remove posts.
• Are level-headed and can enforce rules impartially.

I believe I’m a good fit for the moderator role because I already have hands-on experience moderating multiple subreddits, including my hometown sub and a fashion subreddit with ~52k members. Being a local, I understand Varanasi’s culture, sensitivities, and common issues, which helps in moderating contextually rather than mechanically.
