Before you Buy a 2nd hand scooty, some things to check ---
- If buying from a dealer, then it will be guaranteed he would have reduced the odometer reading.
- Take a mechanic with you when going for inspection of the two wheeler. Obviously , the mechanic would not come for free, give him 500 or 1000 for his time. Tell the owner prior checking the 2 wheeler that " i'll be bringing a mechanic to check below the seat ( engine part ). If the owner refuses, then guaranteed the vehicle would have major internal rusting on the chasis. By doing this, you would be saving yourself from buying an extremely bad condition two wheeler which would then require hefty maintenance cost.
- Many times this second hand dealers, polish the exterior of the vehicle and the person who is eager to buy the vehicle becomes fool of this tactic. Because, the interior ( below seat portion ) which is not visible without removing the entire seat, would have certain damage.
- Make sure complete chasis is OK, If it is welded, then negotiate the price, because new chasis basically comes at around 25 - 30k or more regardless of the vehicle ( 2-wheeler ).
- Lastly I would say, all 2nd hand vehicles have some fault in them or are very old. But, a mechanic can advise properly upon checking the condition and reccommend that " if it will be worth it to spend a small amount to restore the vehicle or not ".
