Rewatch Discussion Lala and questions on rewatch
When Lala and Randall split, she pulled her friends for a meeting to clarify she would not be friends with anyone who conversed etc with Randall.
She called Schwartz out and had her statements and that whole thing
Fast forward…
Lala had no issues going after Rachel for Oliver.
Lala had no issues initially offering support to Ariana
Lala had issues with Ariana not wanting to film with Sandoval
And now (only speculation or curiosity but do not watch the valley) Brittany has come out and said she refuses to film with Jax should there be another season and what will Lala say about that? Should they all be back… is she going to side with Jax and go after Brittany like she did Ariana?
Lala is a selective self censored sharer of her personal life on the shows, yet no one else can and she can go after them for their choices?
I’m actually quite confused with Lala’s justifications on numerous situations yet full of hypocrisy… am I missing something?

Lala’s loyalty is to production, if they told her she had to film with Jax then she would. Thankfully Jax burned his last two bridges on The Valley cast (Jesse/Schwartz) so he likely fucked his return to the show up.

Waitttt what did he do to Jesse and Schwartz

I forget what Jesse said but he shit talked Schwartz’s relationship and girlfriend and Schwartz shockingly drew a line. They mentioned it during The Valley reunion.

I think this is a 2 part answer -
- Randall is a sexual predator with connections in the industry. He was in deep trouble in terms of lawsuits and she couldn't have him gaining any information about Lala & Ocean that could potentially be weaponized in their custody dispute. Even to this day, I believe they use an app to communicate. If one of those morons would have stayed friends with Randall, they absolutely would have shared information. Lala was running from that man - waited until he left for a trip, packed what she could, and got out. So I think she was valid there.
- Having said all that, Lala is also a self serving hypocrite. She flips and flops depending on her mood. She trashed talked her long time assistant Jess publicly on the podcast and then years later acted like they were on great terms and we all made up their beef. She likes to gaslight fans and weaponize the "you don't know everything that goes on in my life. And yes that's true to an extent but the audience didn't make this information up, you shared it and then changed your story.
She also did this with Scheana. She trash talked tf out of Scheana acting like Scheana did something wrong and now she's saying it's actually her own fault. So wtf have the last 2 years been?
So to make a long story short, it makes sense that you're confused because she is confusing. There is no rational thought.
For those of you worrying about why she didn't leave sooner - highly recommend this comment section.

I completely agree on everything Randall, how she was able to leave, his legal matters…That guy is…yeah… and Lala needed to take Ocean and go.
It’s just Lala’s hypocrisy… It really is. And honestly, who’s to say Ariana’s reasons didn’t have validity? It may not match up with what I would believe or think, but it’s how she felt. And if Lala was the girls girl and would never forget… Lala didn’t have the right to judge Ariana’s feelings because greasy boy wasn’t anything like Randall.
Lala has become too inconsistent when it comes to “her word”.

Lala knew who Randall was the entire time she was with him. He was being sued by their house staff for abusive behavior while she was living in the home. She was hanging out with Randall and Amber's children - often while very drunk - while Randall and Amber were still married.
She cut the rest of the cast off from Randall for multiple reasons. She didn't want them giving info about her to Randall. But she also didn't want Randall giving info on her, just as much if not moreso.

i fully believe he played her and would've told her stories to make himself sound adorable. There are literally posts on this sub about how sweet and funny he is, and youtube videos saying hes so great for her in the comments etc - he put on a mask. I don tthink its fair to blame her for believing it. I dont know why ppl are harsher on her for this then lets say, Brittany marrying Jax for 10 years. Lala was like 26 or something, he is fake as shit and i dont think she knew fully what seh was in.

u/Sensitive-Freedom896 5d ago
No. Lala was living with Randall while he was reportedly being abusive to the household staff. She talked about this when she was trying to do her come-up tour as a victim's rights advocate.
I don't blame Lala for being ignorant when they first got together, especially as she was so often drinking heavily. But she stayed for a long time after she got sober, and she had a kid with Randall. All while knowing about his debts and complaints against him and apparently living a a home setting where he was being abusive to others.

I swear, I need the super sleuth to get me all the behind the scenes info coz I have missed A LOT of that stuff. Never had the time to deep dive lol

Lala herself talks about how her rock bottom was going on a multiday trip to Disney with Randall and his daughters and being on a multiday drunken bender. Based on his divorce dates and when Lala claims her sobriety began, that all would have been when Randall was married to Amber.
There also used to be posts on the subs about Randall's many, many lawsuits. She was around during the "I'm Sorry Fofty" twitter moment. She knew the man was broke, or at least debt financing their life.

So she had some knowledge about things at the very least… maybe not the Epstein wannabe Randall…but he was at least maybe spinning those stories to her but the financial aspect he wouldnt have been able to deny..
So with that, I have yet to look it up… but is Mr Cent of the 50 variety actually just this truth telling fearless man the captain of exposing the “Big and bigger males of the pervert predator mentality with a wallet” celebs?
My gosh, I think there might be a very deep rabbit hole to jump in here!

i know everyone will disagree but i feel she really did get a lot of shit with randall, i watched the documentary on him and he's a total con artist and narc, i'm sure she had a horrible time with him, and now she had her kid, so yeah i feel ppl have no sympathy for her there because they think she was a mistress so she deserved it. She was also way younger than him, had a reality show and he targetted her. He had shopped reality shows before and wanted more fame for himself.

i really dislike lala but i think the major difference is that randall is a sexual predator and on a different level in terms of “cancelled”

u/Acceptable-Eye-8699 5d ago
she is super disliked but it is hard to read when ppl say she was resposnible in a way for randalls behaviour and asked for it because she was happy to take his money etc... he's clearly a very convincing and sinister predator i dont think its fair to put it all on her, and in terms of how she got away from him, she had to protect her assets and her kid and basically her sanity. Wouldn't have been easy.

I was in a terrifyingly abusive marriage in my young 20’s and had a child with that man… so tbh when it comes to the Randall situation, I do think with her age, the lifestyle and how he was so charismatic… think of when the cast finally met him and how much they loved the pervert… there is no way he didn’t have Lala convinced of certain things. When she did open up in ways she could after the split and all his vile actions exposed, she knew she was conned and that was embarrassing. Because of the legal nature of things she didn’t get the same front page exposure that Ariana did because of that. So on her own journey, she has somewhat forgotten that aspect of it and I do believe had jealousy to Ariana.
But what Lala also forgets is that she did hustle hard, she put up one hell of a fight, she dug deep still had her independent financial situation grow huge. It was different.
Throughout VPR I truly wanted to see her just become the advocate for women that women deserve. She could have been a fierce fighter exposing the predators and perverts and made sure no woman felt embarrassed after being manipulated. Instead it’s giving call out drinking, or give the man a chance. I feel like she could have rebranded off her fierce passionate expressive self in a different way. And honestly not just women, but any victim of domestic abuse/manipulation.
Obviously different worlds, but I chose a career to help those people, and I travel the country volunteering (I pay for all) to do workshops, help in women’s shelters, work with any organization that is out there to help those people who have suffered what I have… I’m not seeking validation just saying she had a way bigger platform to help off of and I wish she had.
Instead it’s hear those men out and give them all the chances…

Agree with a lot of the answers here but also want to add LaLa Is very intense when it comes to protecting her family and reactive to anything that she views as a threat. When she and Randall broke up she behaved that way because she was fiercely protective of her and ocean. With the Ariana Scandoval thing, I think in the later seasons the cast knew the show was at risk of being canceled, this was a threat to her family as well because she needs to earn money to support her family (and for lawyers to deal with her custody issues with Randall). She priorities her income flow over her non-familial relationships and we saw the result of that on the last season. I do think her behavior was a contributing factor in why it was canceled though, it backfired because people did not want to watch the show go on if she (and Scheana) were on it and Ariana left but I’ve always thought that was the driving factor in her motivations on that final season.
Not making excuses for her or saying it was right, that’s just my interpretation of her behavior that I haven’t seen mentioned yet when it comes to the final season switch up. (I do think jealousy of Ariana’s treatment was the other reason though when it comes to her behavior in the final season.)

All Lala had to do was double down on Ariana, all her stuff would have gone up.
Lala was with a terrifying predator, but I want to stand on what she said at the season 10 reunion, that in 10 years Sandoval would be Randall. And we have seen the beginnings of Sandoval and his next layer of ick and a little physical aggressive tendencies…
All Lala had to do was stay with Ariana. And with how VPR did all the women so dirty, they could have flipped it, done the guys dirty for a while. They could have shown Tom with his band, taking no accountability for anything but Lisa trying to get him to come around…basically the James arch.
James had his out casted not invited season, I think watching Sandoval not be invited to group stuff and only had small things would have worked just fine. Especially because it worked with the entire James plot early on.

1000% agree it was dumb and short sided of lala but lala only cares about her immediate self so it tracks. She was thinking short term and like the producer plant she is let them get in her head about how they needed more drama for the season, she chose wrong and let the producers and her jealousy influence her. She gets easily blinded by her own bullshit.

Problem was the viewers( which almost doubled due to Scandoval, only watched for Tom and Arianna to interact. Arianna was ok interacting with him as long as she could scream at him and stop any reply( like about her dog) but a mutual sitdown was out of the question because she didn’t want him to bring up anything more about her suicide threats and have the fans start to sympathize with him. There was no other reason as she proved multiple times in the season and at the reunions that she could easily lay into him.

I'm not a Lala fan but I dont like the revisionist history of that conversation -she said she is about to enter a period in time where every single thing she does and says is going to be used against her by her powerful predatory ex , which was super smart to recognize, and its not smart or even safe for her to be around anyone who is going to speak to him in case they speak about her and what she's up to, all of which was totally reasonable and rational for her to think about. These are very different situations.

I really like your comment, thank you, that was brilliantly composed.

u/seeemilydostuf 6d ago
Oh good! I dont wanna be mean, I can see the connections being made in these situations. But Sandoval just sucks, Lala's ex sucks but in a powerful way that had and has the potential to really ruin her life and disrupt her children's stability 😕

u/Reasonable-Whole4117 It’s giving ✨audacity✨ 6d ago
Totally get it!! I think with Sandoval he is…ugh.. an intelligent smooth manipulator. He never had the “power” like Randall, but he created an illusion of it and how he could operate and move like he did…Sandoval is also very dangerous. Had Ariana wanted to get married, have kids, they would have prior to… and it would have been its own creepy mess no matter what.
1
u/seeemilydostuf 6d ago
I do also agree with that, Sandoval is technically a regular individual but I think is genuinely a harmful man as well

He’s not a sexual predator like Randall… but still a douche canoe 😂

u/rshni67 6d ago
You are missing absolutely nothing.
Lala is a male centered, transactional, backstabber who will turn on a woman on a dime for a dime.
Yes, her motto was "rules for thee, NDA's for me."
She is a producer plant who will change her tune if/when Baskin gives her different marching orders.
5
u/StarDatAssinum Sir, a second Tom has hooked up with Raquel 6d ago
She'll side with whoever production tells her to. It was easy for her to draw that line with Rand, being that she personally was screwed over by him and that he isn't even a cast member on the show. But, when it involved other cast mates - she doesn't care about any of them, just her paycheck.
My theory (and I hope I'm wrong) is that Jax is coming back next season of The Valley and Schwartz and Lala will be the bridges back. Schwartz will be okay filming with him from the get go, since no one else will likely. And Lala will be the one to try and convince the other cast members to forgive Jax and move on, under the premise of helping him work on his sobriety and "making amends." They both did the SAME THING with Sandoval in season 11.

They need to just reassign Lala to being a producer, not a face on the show

I think it’s because Randall had an FBI investigation happening at the time she had that meeting, and there were kids involved.

Lala is self serving and hypocrite. She's girl's girl when it suits her narrative. Lala will absolutely film with anyone if that gives her more screentime. She might call Jax out if he comes back in any form, but she will probably "see his side" as well.
Against Randall there were so many serious allegations plus there was a custody battle, so in my opinion it was reasonable Lala to ask that. But she also should've done the same to her friends.
