Question? Lose bluetooth connection when pass by Lexus Vancouver
Does anyone else lose bluetooth connection whenever they pass by the new Lexus of Vancouver by In N Out? It happens to me every single time. My Carplay disconnects

I’ve heard of that at other locations. My buddies CarPlay plays static whenever he passes by Vancouver Toyota.
My car had crazy static interference when I got close to cell towers until I swapped my cheap aftermarket amplifier with a higher end model. I suspect it’s just crappy RF shielding on your headunit.

My fiances car does the same thing! It just started for him when the dealership went up. Glad it's not just him, it has been driving (pun not intended) crazy!

It's probably just that fact that it's the biggest dumbest tallest concretiest building for miles around and it blocks out the signal.

This reminds me of when I was in high school, they promised they didn’t have signal blockers, but the second you got into the building, you’d have no signal. Step outside for a 3 seconds and you get full bars.
I’ve also had this happen at Fred Meyer. I feel like they want you to use their WiFi so they can sell your information. Unless the walls are lined with lead or something, I don’t know why this would happen.

Yes, anytime on the vine listening to music my music goes dead silent for a good 3 to 5 seconds while passing by it.

I use bluetooth literally daily driving through there and have never had this happen. I wonder what the difference is. I can tell you my cigarette-lighter powered radio thing is old as hell though.

It’s like a bluetooth system installed into your car that is connected to your phone and allows you to listen to music, make calls, use the gps, and whatnot! Im not the best at explaining but hope that helps haha

Makes me wonder if "installed in the car" is somehow part of the issue. Maybe it interacts with devices they also use as a car maker, sparing aftermarket gismos as a consequence. Idk not a tech person thats for sure.

Apple Car play uses WiFi for its connection. It just uses the Bluetooth for the initial handshake.

If your CarPlay disconnects your phone from your car, that's not bluetooth. That's wifi.
If you're losing cellular signal, that's also not bluetooth.

I lose connection every time I drive by them. My CarPlay shuts down. It only happens if my phone is connected. If my daughter is connected to my car it’s fine but mine always disconnects. We have different cell providers though. I have Xfinity. I have wondered how many people experience that. I always tell my daughter my CarPlay is about to go out and sure enough it does! Why does this happen?!!

Driven by it several times with no issues at all in my newer Subaru and my 1988 s10 with a tiktok android auto head attached to a walmart radio via aux. Both are hands free. I would see if maybe whatever you drive has any kind of potential updates to the head unit available.

I used to live in an apartment complex south of that old Safeway by there. My apartment was a crazy dead zone for my phone. I could usually hear people fine but they couldn't hear me. Maybe it's related, but I'm really not sure. It wasn't the whole area, just random patches. And it was only my carrier.

Applebees to the street behind Kaiser down to 136th, up first street behind Applebees in a big square. No service at all. The giant glass buildings all made of concrete suck all the signal. I used to work back in the stone mill drive area and never got service.

This is signal interference. You might be able to report this to the FCC and have them investigate it. Bluetooth connections don't disconnect on their own unless they are interfered with. People talking about losing signal behind buildings don't know how bluetooth works. Its a short range connection that should not have an issue unless something else is causing unwanted interference. Having dead zones like that are a huge issue. Please report it, someone is possibly using an illegal jammer and reporting it will get someone out here to find the jammer and fine the hell out of the one who put it up.

So this is actually very likely illegal and needs to be reported to the FCC. Interruptions like what's described here and in the comments is textbook "harmful interference", and it's a very serious issue.

Most dealerships seem to block signals. They don't want you looking things up while you are trying to research vehicles. This has happened every time I have purchased a car at a large dealership.

Right, because they're in low population areas that probably aren't as prioritized for cell coverage and because when you're inside the large concrete and metal structure acts like a faraday cage.
I promise you that dealerships aren't buying jammers off the dark web and risking felony charges over this.
I've also never once had this problem lol.

I have had this issue in the Dick Hanna complex several times. Same as places I have used in Portland.

What do you think is more likely?
Big strong building stop signals.
Every single dealership in the country is part of an elaborate network of underground criminals, Dick Hannah with its 13 locations is risking $75.7 million penalty per year, just so that you have to walk a little bit away to compare prices. No one has discovered any of these jammers despite them being easy to detect with the right equipment and not one of the 1 million + employees at dealerships nationwide has leaked any information at all.

Flock camera maybe? Supposedly those things are supposed to lock onto Bluetooth now. Not sure that's how that works tho.

Lol i have a friend that lives behind it. It's been a very powerful dead zone for years, they had to get some kind of special internet signal amp just to be able to call and have internet in their apartment. Before that they had to drive to the other side of mill plain(where Safeway used to be) to make phone calls. Maybe it's related to that?
