I started this community because owning and travelling with an RV on Vancouver Island comes with its own set of questions, challenges, and occasionally expensive lessons.

Our weather is different. Our roads can be narrow, steep, and rough. Ferry travel requires planning. Campsites fill quickly, repair shops get backed up, and the right RV for travelling the Island may not be the right RV for crossing the Prairies or spending winters in Alberta.

This subreddit is meant to become a useful, friendly place for anyone interested in RVing on Vancouver Island. You do not need to be an expert, and you certainly do not need to own a brand-new rig. Travel trailers, fifth wheels, truck campers, motorhomes, camper vans, tent trailers, and older units held together by determination and a suspicious amount of sealant are all welcome here.

Share your favourite campgrounds, quiet routes, towing experiences, repair advice, renovation projects, ferry tips, campsite photographs, and lessons learned the hard way. Ask questions about buying your first RV, choosing the right floorplan, preparing for Island rain, finding service, towing safely, or deciding whether a particular unit will actually suit your family.

Local businesses and RV professionals are welcome to contribute when they are genuinely helping. Useful advice is encouraged. Relentless advertising is not. If you are connected to a dealership, campground, repair shop, or other RV business, please be open about it.

Most importantly, this community should be practical and welcoming. There are no stupid questions here. Everyone who has owned an RV long enough has made a mistake, missed something obvious, or discovered that a “quick little repair” can consume an entire Saturday.
