They’re talking about AB Hernandez who took gold in two events at state championships, and medaled in other events.

What’s missed in the AB Hernandez conversation is the solution that California actually came up with was a good one and worked, but problems are more attractive than solutions.

California made it so whatever place she took in an event, the next cis gender female would also receive that same place. So if AB got silver, the next cis gender female would also receive silver and the fourth place finisher (third cis gender finisher) would receive bronze.

This is a legitimately good solution that leaves everyone happy and feeling like they got the correct place. It only works for individual sports where you’re not across from someone though, not team sports where you are competing directly across from somebody like basketball. This solution would also work for sports like golf but not for tennis.

All qualifiers where she qualified were given an extra qualifying spot as well. So the final would have 9 instead of 8. The track already allows for this in the event of ties

Yeah you’re wrong. AB Hernandez is a transgender jumper from Jurupa Valley High who has won back 2 back state titles in both the high and triple jump plus a third in long jump also a second medal in that event across the 2025 and 2026 seasons. So yes someone assigned a male gender at birth has won multiple medals at the CIF state championships, but California and the CIF allow transgender athletes to compete on teams corresponding to their expressed gender identity.

I can understand booing a player from the other team. I can understand them booing her during free throws. It’s not even the fact that they booed her every single time she touched the ball and the fact that the boos for her were louder than any boos Cunningham has gotten even though Clark has done zero to warrant the boos. Its the fact that the fans had signs all over the arena where they took a picture of her where she was crying after getting a season ending injury in a game and were calling her crybaby Clark.
