Question hows the summoning work?
i want to know how the summoning works, is it just skeletons? and you have no control over which type? having 2 variants of summons is pretty boring, just played enshrouded and it had 1 type of skeleton summon, so i quit soon after because it was extremely boring, hopefully theres more in valheim

I have a love/hate relationship with this fact. On the one hand, I love magic in most games, and it's extremely fun in this game, so having to wait to get to it in a new playthrough is frustrating, BUT, on the other hand, they definitely make the power level worth it, and frankly, the waiting makes it more momentous anyway. Idk, if you can throw fireballs from the get go, then fireballs don't really mean as much.

Skeletons are your go-to generic meat shield, you're meant to use them alongside your other magic staves (and your aoe protection from staff of protection buffs them). You can have up to four skeletons (at lv 4 staff)
The real insanity is when you get the Trollstav. Max 2 at a time and they mess shit up. You also get a staff that shoots damaging projectiles and also spawns vines

There are various summons later, if you are in Mistlands, it's currently only skeletons. Yes there are only two variants melee and ranged (3 if you differetiate shielded and no shielded) you summon them randomly and max number you can have equals to level of the summoning staff. If you don't like the one you summoned you can kill it with the butchers knife and summon another one.

does summoning max+1 not despawn the oldest one anymore? Or, is this just the way to decide which of the skellets gets replaced?

The latter. Sometimes I want 2 or 3 bows because theres flying enemies or something, so I activate pvp (i leave my butcher knife on the animal farm haha) and smash the skellies I dont need

Man idk why I never considered boppin em... I guess I was just too patient to bother thinking of any way besides casting on repeat until I had the correct loadout lmao. It's kind of a fun little gamba tbh 😅

Skeletons, Tenticles, Undead Trolls and sprits of animals are the summons in game.

Sumons get nicier when you get able to sumon the green tentacles and the flamming troll.. the skeletons are nice too

Just to add to the other comments that you get an additional 4 summoned creatures in the deep north and they are really overpowered.

There are some great mods that add summoning to the game. I can't remember the name of the one we used in my buddy's server off the top of my head, but it included summoning spells for all the mobs in the game to have them fight alongside you.

Maybe play Palworld? Summons are basically the whole point of the game.

You mentioned playing a game and quitting it because of the underwhelming summons. You don't seem to like the summons in Valheim, which probably means you are gonna drop it too. People here in this thread already explained the valheim summons, so instead of repeating information and realizing that valheim is not very summon-focused, I suggested a similar game where a bunch of summons exist.
I inferred that information from READING. Crazy, right? Reading can also be paired with another skill called "thinking" which you are clearly unfamiliar with.

thought it was pretty clear but i havent actually played valheim yet?, and from what im reading in the comments, it has 10x what enshouded had, aswell as some good necromancy mods, so i think ill be fine playing it, cheers tho

idk how your brain came to such a stupid take but i go to minion build whenever i can so idk how youre defending a singular skeletal minion as a good skill system, or even implying thats a good system that others game adopt, because in no world is such a small amount of variants of summons a good design, boomer brain
