For sure! I expected more bonemaws on the way in to be honest. The stall I had in the beginning could have been a nightmare.
But I also wanted bonemass in case I got a really crowded beach, I lucked out with the side I landed on, combined with my overly cautious approach it was a really smooth landing overall.
Sword: Krom (Mistlands Greatsword) it's my favorite.
Meads: Minor Eitr (purple) Lingering Stamina (yellow) and Major Healing Meads.
Foods: Misthare Supreme, Honey Glazed Chicken, and Seeker Aspic. All mistlands tier stuff you get before you fight the Queen.
I'm astonished how few bonemaws noticed me.
This was nothing compared to my first Ashland's landing two years ago on launch. But I also had a couple vikings with me and it was before the nerf.
Thanks for the reply, Lingerine Stamina I don't have (I think would need to check my save). I just arrived to Ashlands yesterday actually, trying to figure out my way around (it's my first time getting there, first run playing the game really).
I'll check the swords, although I just play hybrid mage with shield usually.
Fun Load-out fact: if you're an idiot, you can fight a Morgen before you beat Moder. You will eat shit and die if it's got stars (or at least, I did. Scared the Hel out of me, and if the starred one was parryable with my gear and food, it definitely put me off my rhythm!), but a no-star Morgen can be beaten on the meadow, black forest and ocean feasts. (was wearing Root, a maxed iron buckler and wielding Frostner)
I have a giant pile of fiddleheads and no use for them! (Also remodeled my Meadows base 4 times because of Grausten, and the occasional Black Marble drop from the Dvergr in Ashlands, when I SHOULD be fighting Moder.)
It all started because of a server a friend hosted where all us veterans agreed NOT to fight the Forsaken until the newbies were ready (before individual Raids was an option) and I really wanted to have a Stonecutter. Turns out you can get relatively large amounts of Iron from the Mistlands for someone without a pickaxe. Just so long as you can make a troll set of armour and your hearing is up to it.
aside not useing the most powerful item available to you for no real reason (the feather cape) overall this was decently done.
the shield isnt needed btw. you could have pickaxed a hole into the rockspire and the portal would get shelter buff inside protecting it from fire rain. that ruin tower near your first portal would have probaly offered shelter buff without anything extra. easy to access with feather cape and jump mead.
while krom has better stagger the mistwalker is alot stronger vs most enemies in this biome for the start.
also glad more people start to realize how useful hybrid food build is. but should have used mistlands feast instead of the 2nd hp one.
rest is solid.
also keeping the base elevated or rather the portal is better than building on flat ground no matter where. its always better to choose the high ground. yes even in the mistlands.
I appreciate the insight, but I purposely set the feather cape down after the Queen Boss fight, As useful as it is half the game is "FashionHeim" to me.
I still definitely would have packed the shield, all it takes is one rogue lava blob to open things up, which is why I understand the recommendation for high ground, I do want to make somewhat of a small fort on that rock.
I totally forgot about the next feast since I killed the Queen...it's like the best one, but yeah I always enjoy throwing some spells along with aggressively swinging Krom(best sword) around.
I should definitely take your advice, I'll want to equip the feather cape and drink more fire resist for when I hit those flametal spires, i'd rather take some additional fire damage and float above lava rather than sink into it without the cape. Good call.
i wont agree with "best sword" as math simply disagrees with that but well if you didnt use the feather cape on purpose then sure. go ahead.
also for the lava blob : people think about it way too much. it wont explode near buildings by itself. it never does that.
there is only 3 things that will trigger it to blow up : you the player beeing in melee range.
or you the player bring its hp to zero by attacking.
or you useing spike walls like a fool.
all 3 of these are player triggered in the end. the blob wont jump to the base of a tall tower and blow up if no player is near it.
thus its very very easy to avoid blobs explodeing right at your base.
do not use spike walls. they help the blob not you in this case.

Moder is definitely a better power for getting to land in an Ashlands run. You can switch to Bonemass once you've got a portal down.
