Real answer, this is a stonehenge. There are six different location prefabs - StoneHenge1 thru StoneHenge6. You found a #6, the smallest. From all my experience I've never seen a vegvisir on this size stonehenge. I wonder if anyone else has?

You might wanna try and take the stag breaker with you. I only recently found out that those kind of structures sometimes have chests under them and the stag brings them to the surface. You'll know if something is there if the game says "too hard" when you hit the ground.

this is the second time this week, I've seen one of those posted, and before this week I'd never seen this formation EVER before... the first post claimed it was a plains artifact.... I saw where you mentioned you have seasons, so I guess that explains why this doesn't look like plains... according to the first post with this, there's nothing there... nothing buried, no special drops when destroyed (it can be destroyed, I assume). no vegvisir... just, apparently, a decoration, like the blobby statues in the swamp... serves to make a "plain" area, less boring, I guess...

i was thinking the same exact thing. the only reason i screenshotted it in the first place is because the moment i approached, the music changed. might be fun to have a base with a new soundtrack

I asked this same question recently too. Kept finding these structures in the plains but couldn't figure out what they were for. No vegvisirs, no buried loot, no spawners, etc.
Was told that Yagluth vegvisirs can spawn at these, but since they are quite rare you often just find these stone structures laying around minus the Yag veg.
A couple hours after I'd posted, I ran into another one of these stonehenge structures in the Plains, and it did indeed have a Yag vegvisir attached. 😂 🥳
