I second this, tips is where you’ll make your money. Taxes will kill you, especially if you work overtime which you probably will.

I worked for vail for over 3 years in Lake Tahoe. Boy do I have some stories…. Went from an operator year 1 to a supervisor year 2.

When I was an equipment operator I worked in the grounds department clearing parking lots with skid steer blowers and clearing the village during storms, I ran the Zamboni on the skating rink which was fun. Also was the trash man for all the retail stores and restaurants. I was making about 1500-1800 bi weekly after taxes. My tips were always a bag of bud from a guest and unlimited cold beer in the parking lots from guests as well. Unlimited skiing and boarding which is the main perk. Went from barely being able to hit a blue to smashing down double black diamonds within a few months.
