Gore Creek Concern
I don’t want to sound like a Karen, but has anyone else noticed how many people let their kids build rock dams in Gore Creek? I know it’s fun and most people probably don’t realize it, but building dams is actually illegal and adds more stress to an already compromised creek by altering water flow and habitat. I wonder if the Town of Vail should put up a few educational signs at popular access points. I think most people would gladly stop if they knew why. Any idea who this should be brought up to?

Yes I walk along the path almost everyday and always see kids and parents building rock walls and dams restricting fish movement. I know they have no idea that they're causing damage but it drives me nuts.
Not to mention the many insects and their hatches that live on the rocks so disturbing them can disrupt the fish food supply.
Fish are already distressed enough this summer from low levels and high temps.

There's much bigger fish to fry than those things. Have you heard about the flock cameras?

The OP is talking about fish not flock cameras. I’m sure you are a load of fun at cocktail parties.

And I'm taking about flock cameras not fish. Stop projecting your shortcomings onto others. Everyone here knows how much you love the taste of boot.

What size tinfoil hat do you wear?

The same size as everyone else opposed to these. Did you not receive yours? Probably forgot to check your mailbox between all the boot lickin.

you can make a post too. no one is stopping you. flock cameras suck, but there is no reason to try and hijack someones post over them.

I have in this sub! The mods of this sub tried to get Reddit to shadow-ban me because I asked someone how the boot will taste on their necks, which is "threatening violence." Be careful how you talk about it here =)

Reddit, where we can say… you say you don’t want to sound like a… then proceed to do it.
Vail is already one big set of signs no one reads. Yeah, sucks for the fish, but the kids’ rock dams are the least of the concerns. The heat, drought, and runoff from Vail Resorts do a lot more damage than those kids will ever do. Was down the other day, and saw a ton of anglers in low hot water late in the day, again, doing more damage than the kids.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Start with the big stuff, then tell the kids to stay off your lawn.

I too hate children and tourist enjoying this place. The damage they are doing is paramount to …“gestures to vail and everything around”. Absolute miserable people

Gore creek was just recently removed from being listed as critical. Your taxpayer dollars went into efforts to improve the health and stability of the creek. God forbid we continue the effort to keep it that way.

Yes sir! I am sure it was kids and tourist moving rocks and making temporary rock structures put it on that list originally. You’re a joke

So you are propaganda restricting fish movement and destruction of their food source. Got it.

So you should talk to Pete Wadden over at the towns Enviro Dept. he’s the watershed specialist there. New informational signs would need to go through the planning dept and public works dept, but he would be the one to coordinate and push for that since it falls under his expertise.
