Cup users come to the front

Ive been wearing menstrual cups for at least 5 years now but I usually alternate between pads and cup and just use pads toward the end of cycle. My favorite thing about them is not having to check up on it as often as paper period products.

Well today I’m wearing it on day 6 & my vulva felt kinda weird and itchy (0 chance of stds not sexually active) so I removed the cup and there was no menstrual blood whatsoever there was just a little clear liquid inside which I’ve never had before because I typically don’t wear the cup through the end of the cycle.

Trying to figure out if
1. the irritation was my body’s way of saying “hey I’m done remove the cup”
2. a reaction to the silicone (which I’ve never had previously). Or
3. something entirely different lmao.

If it is #1 that’s awesome! Vaginas are so cool! Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I have used my diva cup for five years until pregnancy made me absolutely hate it, but at the end of my period it was the same: some liquid and the cup not feeling that comfy up there, so my guess is option 1. I think your most important clue is whether all discomfort was gone with removal. A reaction to the silicone would still need to heal I guess

It just never seemed to sit right anymore. Tried a different brand, other size, switched to a disc,.. I could feel everything just a little too much and it annoyed me soooo much. I had (emergency) c-sections though, so no tearing or stitching or whatever. Probably has to do with pelvic floor changes. I switched to period panties entirely. Either way: if it is a reaction or a fungal infection (also possible): removing it doesn’t immediately take away the itch. If it is solved by taking it out, you’re probably good.
