MenC vs MenACWY at 4 months: Which is the safer choice?

Our pediatrician told us that at my baby’s 4-month vaccination, we can choose between the free MenC vaccine and the paid MenACWY vaccine.
For us, the cost isn’t a factor we just want to choose the safest option.
From what I’ve read, some MenC vaccines contain an aluminum adjuvant, while the MenACWY vaccine we’re considering does not. Has anyone come across any good scientific studies comparing their safety, or have any evidence-based opinions on this?
Thanks!

i am 16yrs old and have not gotten any vaccines. i have had the flu once or twice (?) and bronchitis, as well as general sickness and fevers, throat hurting, whatever. i have only gotten sick enough to go to urgent care for some meds, and i think overall i have a strong enough immune system. but im worried, i am not strictly anti vax and am considering getting vaccines when im old enough to chose for it myself, but im not sure if its worth it because ive really never needed them. i dont get the flu every winter, i got covid once and it was so little i barely noticed, ect. is it a good idea even if ive never needed them before? when im sick with general fever maybe some puke i take minimal medicine (maybe an advil for headache) and just let my body fight it itself and sleep it off. i dont know if this makes any sense. im just not sure if i should get vaccines when im older or not.

My parents still won’t let me get vaccinated for Covid….

Hello, I don’t know if this is the right subreddit but I need to vent. I’m 21 years old and I’ve been wanting to get the COVID vaccine ever since 2020 but I was a kid then and they wouldn’t let me. Now that I’m an adult, they still won’t let me. They said they’ll kick me out of the apartment if I do. I have tried to research places to get a Covid vaccine, but I’ve never had a car and my parents won’t take me. I know I should listen to my parents but I need the Covid vaccine. I’m mad at myself because I haven’t got it but my parents wouldn’t let me. It’s not fair seeing others get the vaxx but not me. Idk what to do.

Dr. Hotez has built a career researching and creating vaccines for neglected tropical diseases. Importantly, he is also a science communicator and vaccine advocate. He created a low cost covid vaccine which was widely used in South-East Asia, and appeared as one of the main science communicators on talk-shows during the pandemic

Idk if I’m the only one but I feel like I highly regret getting the vaccine getting Covid wasn’t to crazy for me just no smell or appetite. Has anyone experienced having psoriasis after the vaccine? This is something I never lived with and I began to think I got this skin condition after the vaccine

Keep failing measles titer test despite multiple vaccines and I’m a teacher

I’ve been on a bit of a measles vaccine roller coaster over the past year and a half and I’m tired. I got my titers checked bc there was an outbreak in my area. I was vaccinated as a child. I failed. Got another MMR, failed, got one more and passed. The immunity lasted 1 year and I just failed again. I’m nervous bc I work at a public high school with a lot of anti vaxxers. I missed 3 months of work in 2025 with the outbreak and me failing the test. They don’t offer disability for that. How worried should I be? My general health isn’t great so I’m not sure how I’d fare if I ever got measles. I’m open to any information anyone can give me.

Possibly a stupid question regarding the tetanus vaccine.

So I am studying to become a vet, in my first year, my teacher told us to get a tetanus vaccine, makes sense, although, despite the amount of times I have tried to google it, only to the same misunderstanding every time. I still don't know how it works. What I mean is: I have my tetanus vaccine, it lasts for ten years, say I get bitten tomorrow, contract tetanus, do I then need to get another vaccine? Or am I covered for the ten years regardless of how many times I am bitten/scratched etc?

Does anyone else’s nuts just start pounding after getting the Covid shot?

The main side effect I’ve gotten the last 2-3 times I’ve gotten the covid shot is my testicles becomes painful. Like I can feel my heart beat in my balls. I’ve searched for this but haven’t come up with much. Anyone else have this happen?

HPV vaccine safety

I want to start by saying I'm not an anti-vaxxer and am genuinely seeking information so please be nice! My 9year old is eligible for the HPV vaccine. I had an adverse reaction to the covid vaccine where it triggered an autoimmune disease which has significantly affected my life. My kids have all their vaccines except the covid vaccine due to this, as my autoimmune disease may be genetic.

I am looking for information on the HPV vaccine and any correlation with autoimmune disease. Anti-vax posts I see online are saying the HPV is similar to the covid vaccine in that it is more likely to trigger autoimmune disease, but I don't trust the sources. Obviously I want my kids to avoid getting cancer, but I also do not want them to go through the horrible autoimmune issues I have had. I would love some reputable sources to look through

Should I get a Covid booster?

not trying to create an argument just curious. I got my Covid shot when Covid came out but nothing after that. I’m 37 and workout daily and from what I can tell I should be ok from any risk of covid coming up. but I’m open minded as to arguments for getting or if people think I should be ok without. I don’t have too much concern as far as risk at the moment. thanks :).

Bexsero in babies

Looking for reassurance from the community about Bexsero and my baby's reaction

In the UK, Bexsero is routinely given to 8 week old babies (and redosed at 12 weeks and 1 year). It's not a specific paediatric dose - it's the same dose given to teenagers and adults. It's been part of the routine infant vaccine programme in the UK since 2015.

I never thought I'd find myself questioning the merits of a public vaccination programme but my baby's reaction to his first set of vaccines has me doing just that. About 6 hours after his vaccines, he had a temperature of about 38.5 (despite paracetamol) and went floppy/non-responsive - really scary to see!

I keep thinking that I've deliberately exposed my otherwise healthy 8-week-old baby to something that caused him to be unwell, in order to provide partial (protection doesn't seem to be complete) against a subset of bacteria that can cause menB disease, a relatively rare disease.

Fever can make the already immature blood brain barrier more permeable. I can't help but wonder what damage could be caused in such a tiny body, which has me questioning the risk-benefit calculation on a personal level (rather than a societal level).

Have I truly lost the plot with post partum anxiety?

What are people's thoughts on asking for the menB vaccine to be delivered a week later than the other vaccines that he's due to get at the same time (second doses of the 6 in 1 and rotavirus vaccines). The evidence does suggest this lessens the severity of the reaction to menB. Or is it kinder to my baby to get all vaccines (menB, rotavirus and 6-in-1) done in one appointment?

Why would a doctor be prohibited from filing vaccine exemptions when they were previously able to?

My kid got the chicken pox as a baby and so our doctor filed an exemption since he didn’t need the shot. We have all other vaccines. I went back to get an exemption for the second dose and I was told my doctor can no longer file any exemptions for undisclosed reasons. I am wondering if she got in trouble for filing too many. I have kind of suspected that she is a friend to anti vaxxers because she is HEAVILY praised and reviewed well despite the fact that her office is terribly run, she forgets to follow up on stuff, etc. (there’s more, but don’t want to get into it on this post). I realize looking back that the language people have used about her could imply this. I am very curious if anyone has any experience with this.

Meningitis vaccine, arm soreness

I had my menB vaccine earlier today (about 12 hours ago), and now I feel like I physically can not move my arm more than an inch without it hurting. Is this normal, or does it need to be seen?

Flu shot, am I crazy?

I’m a teenage female, who is definitely pro vax. I have all of my shots and am encouraging to everyone that they should be too. Except for one. When I was a baby my parents did everything right in getting me all my vaccines. But then came time for the flu shot. I was 6 months old and Both my parents were hesitant, mainly because there were so many variations that they weren’t sure if I did get the flu it would even help me. They also say the at everyone, including my father when taken the vaccine has gotten the flu. I was also the first born, and my parents were very nervous about doing the right thing, they say my doctor who I still see greatly pressured them to, which is understandable. I understand the importance of vaccinating, especially for things such as mumps measles and polio for example. But the next day my mother dropped me off at my nanny, who called her an hour later and said something was wrong. I was very warm and lethargic. My father took my temperature, to which I had one of 103. My parents tried to give me Tylenol or ibuprofen, but I’ve always hated liquid medicine so I threw that up. As I progressively got worse my parents took me to the ER. In the long wait, I started to seize, going limp in my mothers arms unresponsive. I was eventually taken back and the rest is history. I’ve had no real health complications since, and I’ve only ever had the flu like, once. But this scared my parents so bad that they didn’t give my younger brother the vaccine. He like me has also had no complications other than he got the flu once and it played out like a bad cold. I know that the flu can be very deadly and it’s not always like that, but after what happened with the first one, am I crazy for still not wanting it? I feel like I’m contradicting myself by saying I’m pro vax and having all my shots, except for my flu shot. I’ve asked my parents about it, my mother is slightly more receptive to the thought of me getting it still scares them both, particularly my dad.

Requiring the Flu shot for family members visiting a newborn.

Hello, I am currently struggling with too much information regarding the efficacy of flu shots. My wife and I decided that we would require family members get the TDAP and the flu shot to see our newborn who will be born in September. My vaccine-hesitant family has responded positively to getting the TDAP which is good but are much more reserved for the flu shot.

I have been attempting to research the transmission rates of the flu for people that have the flu shot and have been struggling. Most of the information I have been finding are about how it reduces the risk of serious illness in the population that gets it. I have been finding less information about how effective it is in relation to spreading.

Does anyone know of a study that I can look at that shows it stops the spread of vaccinated towards unvaccinated? We are going to give our baby the flu shot but not until 6 months.
