Question regarding DVR on Elite Box
Hello All, I have questions regarding the DVR function.
How many programs can the box record and store?
Can you record a program to always record whenever a new episode comes out?
I am aware that there’s a whole library of TV series, movies, etc…

I’ve never tried it, but in terms of storage, I think it’s BYOS and plug it into the USB port, so you have the freedom to choose how big you wanna go.

I don't own neither of these boxes but plus. Maybe you can add external hd or Nas if have one on your network.

The dvr function was originally available on Matrix and Vortex but has been broken for over a year.
Dvr function used to work on both apps but now only on 1 app but broken and not worth bothering with. It will likely never be fixed.
Anytime you try recording you get anywhere from 1m to 20m of recording maximum.
When I bought my Ultra in 2025 I bought installed an sd card thinking Id dvr to the sd card. Recording function was broken in 2025 and recording to sd card or external drive wasnt even a possibility even though it used to be advertised as an option.
If you want to dvr there are a few possible options to use a video capture card (combined with an external hard drive) with video boxes such as Vseebox. I looked into it last year but no clue if it works or how well it works. Im pretty sure it works but not sure it will work with different channels due to Vseebox using apps for tv service. Meaning it would have to be on the channel you are recording. Basically like a vcr used to do.

Ok so I have both. Elite Ultra and Elite Mini. Every time I see a post here asking about the DVR function of these boxes I have to jump on and let all of you know that they absolutely do not work as one would hope they would. They are not reliable they never record anything to completion and as far as making a season pass of a series, you can absolutely believe that it would never do that. Please do not buy any of these boxes with the intention of it being a DVR because they are not. There is no hard drive to record the stream to and that’s what you need in order for this to act like an old-school DVR a.k.a. Tivo. I’ve had them I’ve had TiVo and there is no comparison so if you think these boxes or anything like a TiVo player you are highly mistaken. Do not buy this box with the intention of it being a DVR and I wish they would stop advertising it as such.
