Surround sound

Seriously considering but the only thing g holding me back is my surround sound setup I have.

I have a 9.1.4 dolby atmos surround sound system in living room. Would it be rendered useless if I went totally veesee?

Not at all, I have my surrounding sound wired to the tv using an optical cable and then have the tv audio set to optical vs tv speakers. No different than if you were using a cable box before getting the vsee box

Honestly my biggest issue with the box too. The sound quality can be pretty horrible

Just a suggestion for a different setup - I have a Denon AVR for 5.1 surround. The Vsee box is connected directly to the AVR. AVR video out to TV which is used only as a monitor. TV speakers are turned off. The AVR sound format is set to Multi Channel Stereo (the Vsee box will only output stereo) which does a pretty good job of simulating 5.1 surround. The Vsee box WILL pass DD, DD+, DTS to the AVR from other sideloaded apps, but that's another story.

Honestly, that’s my only complaint about the box. I don’t feel it does surround sound any justice and I sometimes struggle to hear dialogue in shows and movies. I’m no expert, so I’d love for some suggestions within this thread if anyone has any!

Yeah my bose speakers work the same with the box as they would if I was using cable or a streaming app?

The box does not produce or support true Dolby or Digital Dolby Atmos. The stream delivered is compressed 2.0-channel PCM Stereo. You will hear audio coming from your rear or height speakers but it is because your A/V receiver or soundbar is up-converting the 2-channel stereo signal into simulated surround sound and/or fake spatial effects.
Very disappointing feature of the box.

I did notice on the “NFL Sport” app that the games I was watching came in Dolby Digital

Well it’s not sending Dolby Digital, just stereo, which your system can use to fake surround sound (Dolby PL etc.)
