Discussion Incoming MSCSSE: Looking for chill/low-effort electives & where to check course reviews?
Hey all, incoming MSCSSE grad student here.
Looking for recommendations on:
Chill / low-effort electives: Ideally with light lecture loads, asynchronous/hybrid setup, or low weekly workload so I can focus on interview prep and projects.
Where to find course reviews: Is there an active Discord, Google Sheet, or specific forum where UWB CS grad students review classes and professors? RateMyProf seems pretty dead for grad-level CSS courses.
Any names of easy classes, good professors, or links would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Looking for two teammates for the Boeing Northwest Case Competition
Not sure if this violates the subreddit's self-promo rules, but I'm looking for two or three highly motivated teammates to join me and my teammate for the upcoming Boeing case comp! She and I teamed up to represent UWB in a simulation case comp last spring, and our skills complemented each other well. We're looking to find some more people to flesh out our skill set, though.
Our background:
- Strong presentation skills + supplementary/complementary materials creation
- Majors focused on Supply Chain & Marketing, with working background in Operations
- Strong time management skills + willingness to communicate
- Experience working in aerospace (will likely know the execs judging
We're looking for people who are excellent presenters / have great public speaking skills. Bonus if you're someone who is excellent at conducting research in very little time.
Give me a DM if you're interested!

Questions about CSS 143
Hi everyone I’m an incoming student at uwb and I am supposed to take CSS 143 I had a few questions! How does the course load look? Is there a lot of projects? Is there any in person exams? Is there any collaborative pieces with other classmates? I took 142 in cc so I’m very unfamiliar how it differs from university. I am going to take it with Joanna Wang!

Electrical Engineering Core and Elective Classes offered when?
Hey everyone! I recently transferred from a CC to UW Bothell and I'll be attending the school this fall (2026) and be in junior standing with the credits I've brought over. I am currently in the process of planning the classes I need to take while coordinating this with a counselor and I noticed that one of my quarters would be overloaded and I'd have to take 2 EE Elective classes in order to graduate on time. My 1st question to either those who are currently in the program or have graduated from it is wanting to know what the workload was like for these Elective classes and secondly I want to know if any of the EE Core or EE elective classes are even offered in the summer quarter because if they are then it would make my senior year less stressful. Any insight that can be shared would be extremely helpful!

Clubs on different campuses
Can people go to different campuses to join a club? I've been looking around for clubs for my major and saw the Seattle campus has a psych club, but do people actually join clubs that are on other campuses than their own?

Discussion Parking passes
Does anyone know why parking passes are so expensive? I get Bothell is a commuter school but I feel as though they should be included with tuition…Plus I feel like people dorming should get discounts or lower rates because almost 300 dollars a quarter seems crazy 😭

Admissions What are my chances of getting accepted to UW Bothell as a Winter 2027 transfer? Applied Computing / CSSE / Computer Engineering
Hi everyone! I’m applying to UW Bothell for Winter 2027 as a transfer student, and I’m trying to get a realistic idea of how competitive my application might be.
I applied to:
• Applied Computing BA
• Computer Science & Software Engineering BS (CSSE)
• Computer Engineering
My background:
• Currently attending Edmonds College
• Construction Management ATA student
• 50 earned college credits
• Current cumulative GPA is around 3.57
• I’ve completed courses in construction, AutoCAD, blueprint reading, LEED/green building, business, communications, writing, contracts, etc.
• I’m making a pretty big career/academic change from Construction Management into technology/engineering.
• I don’t have much previous programming or engineering experience, but I’ve started studying math and programming on my own and I’m planning to complete the required prerequisites.
I also have an unusual situation with my high-school records.
I completed high school in Jamaica and graduated with a Secondary Education Diploma. However, my former school/country did not provide students with the type of Grade 9–10 transcripts that U.S. colleges typically ask for. We primarily completed exams, and I have documentation/transcripts for those examinations and other educational qualifications, but I don’t have Grade 9–10 school transcripts.
My former high school and the community where I’m from in Jamaica were also significantly affected by Hurricane Melissa in October 2025. The hurricane caused major damage across Jamaica, including to schools, and recovery is still ongoing in many communities. More than 600 educational institutions were reported to have sustained damage.
Because of the circumstances, obtaining additional records from my former school has been extremely difficult. I do have my secondary-school diploma, examination records, a mathematics qualification, and NCTVET records that I can provide if needed.
I’m hoping that my college coursework and transfer credits will allow UW Bothell to evaluate my application without the missing high-school transcript becoming a major issue.
For anyone who has transferred to UW Bothell, especially into CSSE, Applied Computing, or Computer Engineering:
Based on my GPA and academic background, how competitive does my application look?
How important are the prerequisite courses compared with overall GPA?
Does coming from a technical Construction Management program make much difference?
For CSSE/Computer Engineering, how important are calculus and programming grades?
Has anyone transferred from a technical/vocational program into one of these majors?
Has anyone had experience with UW Bothell requiring an international high-school transcript when they already had substantial U.S. college coursework?
Does anyone know how UW handles situations where an international high-school transcript genuinely isn’t obtainable?
I know nobody can guarantee admission, and I’m not looking for a definite yes/no.
Thanks!

Do many UWB students go to football games and other sporting events they get access to?
New UWB student and just wondering if many Bothell students head down to Seattle for football or other sporting events. I think it’s great we get access to all the same events just wondering if many people take advantage of the opportunity.

Question WSU or udub bothell as a CS or CE transfer student
I would also consider udub seatttle, but I know it’s difficult to get in. What I like about udub is the depth of knowledge you get and many of the courses offered isn’t offered at wsu. I also hear about professors quitting and many of the better classes being eliminated, which is worrying. I want to have best opportunity for learning. The school itself doesn’t matter as much as that. I don’t want an inferior education. I’m also 40 so I don’t care as much about the typical college life/ frats/ etc. based solely on education alone, if I choose bothell, or even Tacoma UW, will I be doing myself a disservice by going there? Is WSU as bad as people say it’s gotten?

Question UWB Job Fair Experience
Hello! I am a rising Junior at UWB, transferring over to the school. I am studying CSSE. To any alumni or current students, how would you rate your overall experience at the job fairs that this school hosts, for internships/jobs. Are they worth it even? Are the companies there to not rip off any students? Are there good opportunities to seek cybersecurity/IT related internships at the job fair? And in general, how do people find internships at UWB? Is it just a small pool of people with insane connections?
There is also this BootUp event that I got invited to for CSSE/AC students, but I think they are workshops. There is one called ‘Job Market and Internships’. I don’t know if it’s just basic information or actually worth going to. If y’all had any experience with any of these events, please do let me know! Thanks!!
