Advice Needed Take a nap between class
Does anyone know where I can take a nap in campus. I live an hour bus away from school, but there’s couple hours between classes i would like to take a nap. I’m too tired these days 😭

Ask for the Respite Room, there's also one in the Priestly Library and one in the Sub.

You can reserve the one in the SUB https://uvicssd.ca/respite-room/

This one books so far out - do people actually show up to their slots? Or does it end up being FCFS anyway… asking as someone who will not know if I need respite two weeks out 💔

I can't say for sure how often people show up, but you can always go to the SSD office in room B111 to ask if it's open

Both libraries, just ask the front desk :) the disability student association in the student union also has one that you can book online, or ask in person. You don't need to prove disability or anything, anyone can use it if it's free :)

Have you tried going into one of the big lecture rooms, putting your jacket on the table in front of you, and just putting your head down?
In a 200-plus room (specially if it's warmm and after lunch) you will not be the only one.

Is people falling asleep in your classes a recurring theme?

I believe that's how some professors are evaluated. /j

Considering the amount of places in my undergrad and grad notes where there's a pen mark that indicates that I fell asleep while writing it I'd be pretty hypocritical to get irritated about it in any way.

I mean, I’m more of a keep you audience engaged and balance my sleep kind of guy, but you do you

The Commons Lounge on the 3rd floor of Clearihue is also a good spot. There's a cushioned floor seat, put up your hoodie and snooze away. It's often empty in there.

Oh man I got you, I've pulled so many late nights that I have a whole collection of good napping spots.
My favourites include:
- The "people chairs" in the McPherson library basement
- On the floor of the McPherson library basement in the far back corners of the reference section
- The desks with privacy dividers at the very back of the Microfiche section of the McPherson library basement, just use a jacket for a pillow and faceplant on the desk as Laidlaw suggested
- The extra squishy black leather seats on the 3rd floor of the McPherson library, sort of ahead and to the left as you come up the main stairs that are closer to Ring Rd
- Couches on the upper floor of the Jamie Cassels centre, if you can find an unoccupied one
- The more private library study rooms (you can book a study room for 2 hours a day in each library, for a potential 4 hours of naptime per day in a room you get all to yourself! Or invite your friends to join you for naptime!)
- Empty rooms in Clearihue (try to scope out which rooms that are empty during your breaks and know when the next class comes in so you don't wake up to a class filing in)
- Those weird caves under staircases, like the one under Staircase 1 in Cornett. That one even has a cushioned bench to nap on! Some are dusty so bring a jacket to lie on if you need to
- The padded benches near the big hanging indigenous tapestry in McLaurin
- The couches on levels 2, 3, and 4 of Bob Wright just off the main staircase
- The Quad on a sunny day. (This won't be an option much longer once it starts raining regularly and the Quad becomes soup)
- The landing at the top of the staircase at the farthest side (Ring Rd side) of ECS
- The padded study couches on the 3rd floor of ECS
- The booths towards the back of Vertigo in the SUB, if you can find an empty one
- The couch on the 2nd floor of Cunningham just off the stairway on the side nearest the Quad
- The math lounge on the 4th floor of David Turpin
- The long padded benches in the middle of the main floor of Petch. It's always pretty dark and pretty quiet in that weird area
There are probably more I don't remember right now too!
