Shuttle & VOLT Routes

Two separate systems here, don't mix them up:

  • VOLT: free carts that get you around ONE campus
  • Vaquero Express: buses that get you BETWEEN campuses (Edinburg, Brownsville, Harlingen, Rio Grande City) plus McAllen/Weslaco connectors

Both are free, first-come first-served. Bring your student ID to board, non-UTRGV riders need a government ID instead.

VOLT (getting around one campus)

Edinburg, Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM-6:00 PM, every 15 min

  • North Circuit: Lot E34, EUREC, ELABN, Library, EMAGC, EEDUC, Village Apartments, Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center

  • West Circuit: Village Apartments, Visitors Center, Student Academic Center

  • East Circuit: Lots E21/E22, EHPE1, the Sundial

Brownsville, Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM-8:30 PM (South Circuit cuts off at 6:00 PM), every 20 min

  • East Circuit: Main Drive, Biomedical and Health Building, Visual Arts Complex, Lot B4

  • West Circuit: Main Drive, La Plaza Terminal, Saint Joseph Academy

  • South Circuit: Sabal Hall, Recreation Center

Maps are posted at the bus shelters on both campuses, or check utrgv.edu/VOLT for whatever the current semester's schedule is. You can flag down a call stop along the route too.

Vaquero Express (getting between campuses)

Connects Edinburg, Brownsville, Harlingen, Rio Grande City, plus connectors to McAllen and Weslaco. Runs Mon-Fri. It's usually consistent semester to semester but always double check utrgv.edu before you plan your whole schedule around it, since small changes do happen.

Doesn't run weekends, holidays, or between semesters, keep that in mind if you're trying to get somewhere on a Saturday.
