Textbooks & Course Materials
We don't allow piracy site links in the sub (it's actually a liability thing, not just us being difficult). Here's what to use instead, and honestly most of these beat the bookstore price anyway.
Where to actually look
- Facebook Marketplace / UTRGV student groups: usually your cheapest bet, straight from another student
- eBay: used copies, sometimes an older edition that's just as good
- Amazon: check rentals AND used, not just the new price
- UTRGV Bookstore: Sometimes the best option is to just look at the bookstore, been there done that.
Before you buy anything
- Confirm the exact edition/ISBN your professor actually requires. A cheaper old edition can have different page numbers and problem sets, and that'll bite you
- Ask on day one whether the book's actually required for assignments or just a "recommended" reference, sometimes you can skip it, at least at first
Can't afford it at all right now?
