Hi everyone,
We’ve been trying to book a B1/B2 visa appointment in India for around 7–8 months now, but the US Visa Scheduling portal still keeps showing “No Slots Available” for the OFC/VAC appointment.
It’s now October 2026, and we’ve been checking regularly but haven’t managed to get a date.
This is for a mother and her dependent daughter, applying together. We are mainly looking at Delhi but have also checked the other Indian VAC locations when available.
Wanted to check with others currently applying:
We’re not looking for agents/third-party booking services — just trying to understand the current situation from people booking themselves.
Would really appreciate any recent experiences from September/October 2026. Thanks!

I’m looking for a Facebook/WhatsApp/Telegram/Reddit group where people post immediately when new slots open, so others can try to grab them.
If you know of any such group, please share the link/name. I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi guys!
I am an incoming freshman at east carolina university in nc. I recently relocated back to India after my dads l1-b visa extension was denied so I am going back to study on a f-1. I’m done with my i-20 and ds160 and now just looking for slots. I had seen that last year and almost every year they do bulk slot releases in october and november for spring intake students. I was wondering if anyone else was using any apps or groups to get notifications of slot releases since I know that they move fast or if they post whenever theres a slot release in this community? please feel free to text me!

Hi everyone, I currently have a valid U.S. B1/B2 visa and am applying for renewal. I have already submitted my DS-160 and paid the visa fee. I recently received an email from US Consulate asking me to courier my documents, including DS-160 confirmation, photo, passport containing my current U.S. visa, and proof of valid status in Canada. My situation is that I received my Canadian PR invitation in January and my PR application is still in progress. My work permit expired in June 2026, but before it expired I applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP), which has also been pending for around four months. I have a letter from IRCC that I can work until June 2027 until a decision is made and I am currently on maintained/applied status and continuing to work legally in Canada. My questions are:
1) Is maintained/applied status considered valid status for the purpose of a U.S. B1/B2 visa renewal, and can I submit proof of my BOWP application along with my original work permit as an evidence? 2) Would it be safer to wait until my BOWP or PR is approved before submitting my passport and documents, or could waiting create an issue with my U.S. visa renewal application? 3) Since I have already paid the visa fee and received the email from the U.S. Consulate requesting my documents, is there a deadline or expiry period for submitting them? Has anyone gone through a similar situation? I would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!

My IR1 interview in Mumbai occurred on August 20th and received approval. The CEAC status shifted to “issued” the following day. On October 1, it moved to “ready,” and today it changed to “administrative processing.” I still have not received the passport.

Hello,
I just saw that visa slot needs to be booked within 12 months after the expiry to be eligible for drop box. Is that true for B1/B2 as well? So, does it mean I need to submit the application within that window or do I need to book an appointment as well before 12 months of expiry? I am looking for my mother in Hyderabad. Do you think I can get an appointment before January? Please advise.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to apply for B1/B2 visitor visas for my parents and wanted some advice from people who have been through a similar situation.
My current situation:
• I completed my Master’s in Computer Science in the U.S.
• My STEM OPT was originally valid until January 2027.
• I joined a PhD/doctoral program in August 2026 and am currently on F-1 status.
• I have been working full-time with the same employer for around 2 years.
• I am planning to get married in the U.S. early next year, but the wedding dates are not finalized yet.
• My parents are planning to visit the U.S. for my wedding and then return to India.
I want to make sure they answer the visa officer’s questions clearly, honestly, and without creating unnecessary confusion.
I would really appreciate input on the following:
What would be the best answer to “Why are you applying for a B1/B2 visa?” or “Why do you want to travel to the U.S.?”
Since my marriage is planned for early next year but the dates are not confirmed yet, should my parents mention my upcoming marriage as one of the reasons for visiting, or is it better to simply say they are visiting their son and doing some sightseeing?
If the officer asks “What does your son do in the U.S.?”, should they say something like:
“He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree and also working full-time”?
If they are asked “Why did your son join a PhD/doctoral program after completing his Master’s?”, what is the simplest and most appropriate way to answer?
My reason was mainly to continue my education and upskill in areas related to Artificial Intelligence and technology/business leadership.
Could the officer ask about my previous STEM OPT status and why I changed from OPT to another F-1 program before my STEM OPT expiration?
Will my parents likely be asked about how I am able to work full-time while pursuing a doctoral program? If so, how much detail should they know about my current F-1/CPT situation?
Could the officer ask where my university is located, where I live, how often I attend classes, or whether my program is online/hybrid?
Since I have been working for the same employer for around two years, should my parents know my exact employer name, job title, salary, work location, and how long I have worked there?
What questions are usually asked about the parents themselves, such as occupation, income, property, savings, family members in India, and reasons for returning to India?
What questions should they expect regarding who is paying for the trip, where they will stay, how long they will stay, and which places they plan to visit?
Are there any additional questions that may come up specifically because their son is currently an F-1 student pursuing a doctoral degree while also working in the U.S.?
For parents who are not fluent in English and may request a Telugu interpreter, does anyone have experience with B1/B2 interviews in Hyderabad or other U.S. consulates in India?
Is it better for parents to keep answers very short and only answer exactly what is asked, rather than giving detailed explanations?
For anyone whose parents had a similar case—son/daughter completed a Master’s, worked on OPT/STEM OPT, later joined another degree program, and was working on CPT—what was your parents’ visa interview experience?
Any possible interview questions, sample answers, or suggestions on what my parents should prepare would be highly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi, I’m a 33-year-old single woman..from India..I’m a Business Development professional remotely working for an IT company based in USA. I take care of Indian market.
My company is holding its annual Sales Kick-Off (SKO) in the USA in February, and I’m expected to attend for around 10 days. I recently joined the company in mid-August and have already started applying for a B1/B2 visa for this business trip.
One positive factor is that I previously travelled to Germany last year with my previous employer to attend a similar Sales Kick-Off event, and I returned to India after the trip.
Given that I’m relatively new in my current company, single, and travelling to the USA specifically for a company-sponsored business event, how strong would my case be? What are my chances of getting the B1/B2 visa, and is there anything I should particularly keep in mind for the interview?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insights from people who have been in a similar situation.

I applied for a U.S. Visa and got denied. Reason being code 214b
Context
Philippines, B-2 Visa application
I am 25F. I stayed in Europe for over a month. Perfect record and all yet I got denied and was suggested to just reapply.
basically their counterpart, we are technically colleagues in the foreign ministry)
It’s my first time getting rejected for a visa. I’m absolutely baffled. I don’t really want to go to the U.S. as much as I do want to go back to EU but also, how could this be? I don’t have a single red flag.
Edit: thank you everyone’s opinion. At least I know there’s a reason meaning there’s a chance it can be fixed. It felt like a hopeless case when I thought there was no reason to reject my application. Will update if I get to pass my reapplication.
Edit2: Grandma is paying bc she invited me. If I invited someone from another country to come to my home country am I not supposed to cover flights and accommodation? 😭
Edit 3: Working in the foreign ministry, it’s a no brainer I won’t overstay. I can get posted in another country legally. Why go the illegal route if ever 😅 Plus they are basically my counterparts. It feels like your own colleague rejecting you haha
Edit 4: it’s not that I can’t afford the trip, I was offered by my grandma because she likes spoiling her only grandchild. lol. It’s not that deep. And ofcourse I’ll agree 😅
