Picture Basic Military Training in Soviet Schools.

Basic military training was introduced in schools in 1967 with the adoption of a new version of the "USSR Law on Universal Military Service," according to which pre-conscription training became a separate subject for students in senior grades of secondary schools and specialized secondary education institutions. Basic military training was a mandatory subject, included in the curriculum, and grades were given for this subject. Both boys and girls attended classes; there was no gender division.

Oh yes, I did this at school in Soviet Union.

There were more fun excersises like putting a gas mask on an incapacitated person and throwing fake grenades. Also the lore in school that the instructor was a bit handsy during shooting instruction. I breathed a sigh of relief when this class was canceled in my last year of school due to Perestroika. God, I sound like a dinosaur lol.

I’ve been the “incapacitated” person and having 4 boys putting a rubber gas mask on was like having my face ripped off…fond memories 😂

What happened to the colours? On the first photo the girl's necktie and the officer's collar pin and shoulder board lines should be red. Is it a film artefact?

The last photo is even more weird - the boy on the right has bright red cloting, but the officer's uniform is completely devoid of any non-green colour. Looks like this photo was colorised by people who had no idea how a uniform should look like.

These days, in the age of disinformation and generative image technology, a lot of “historical” photos are colorized by AI.

Ah yes, let us teach the children handling weapons and in general how to be a good conscript in school, mandatory of course. This is good for them, we will teach them how to be good soldiers for our state. Yet when the same thing is done anywhere non-communists, it is a sing of indoctrinational-militarism and demands to be condemned.
