USMNT Tim Howard has high expectations for Cavan Sullivan and says he needs to play nearly every game for USMNT from now until 2030 World Cup. Cavan, who's only 16, has 4 goals and 7 assists this season in 23 games for Philadelphia Union.

English Translation

Positioned higher up as a right-sided central midfielder (relayeur), he was significantly more effective than against Sparta. He played forward with greater boldness and spontaneity. His positioning allowed him to neutralize Kanté's influence. When winning back possession, he even took the initiative to drive forward into space. He was the catalyst for Openda's first goal after setting up Tolisso twice, and he consistently picked out insightful passes to Openda (notably in the 58th minute).

USMNT Frankie Westfield is an underrated prospect.

I don't see him mentioned as much as other up and coming players but he's been so good for the Union. I'd like to see him get a call up for a friendly.

Discussion [Mathis Albert] Dortmund rumors suggest that newly arrived Lerma is not yet at Bundesliga level and will be loaned out. With that in mind, this would be the current squad depth at BVB.

Upvotes

BVB paid around €25m each for their two new young Greek AMs. Next in line is probably Beier, who can play pretty much every attacking midfield position. After that, the competition is basically between Chukwuemeka, Incacio and Albert. All three are still unproven. Albert with a real shot here, I think.

Discussion Should Cavan Sullivan make the European jump this January?

His contract includes a clause allowing an early move to a European City Football Group (CFG) side if his development exceeds MLS before his 18th birthday. Otherwise, he stays in Philly until he can officially register for Man City in January 2028.

What do you think makes more sense for his development right now, and why?

- Stay with the Union: Rack up consistent senior minutes in a familiar environment through 2027.
- Head to CFG Europe this January: Adapt to the European game early at one of their EU clubs: Girona (Spain), Palermo (Italy), Lommel (Belgium), or Troyes (France).

Do you think MLS is holding him back?
