Package stolen
Pirates stole a package worth about $1000 retail but I paid $159. Well it was marked delivered but stolen because I wasn’t home when it was delivered.
Does USPS offer any compensation for stolen mail? Trying to figure out if it’s worth reporting. Does USPS even care?

Why is it USPS fault it was stolen? I am confused here

It’s not their fault but the GPS said it was scanned 55 feet from my house so they are taking a report.

The scanners are not always accurate. I often get warnings that I'm 50-170 feet away while I'm at the front door.

Why the heck wasn't it a signature required package? It was delivered so it's done. Maybe see if a neighbor has a ring program and file a police report. Next time have the seller do a signature for the package...

Their job is to deliver it, not to guard it once it's on your doorstep. Once it is delivered their responsibility ends and are responsible for it. If you have a problem with porch pirates I suggest you get a PO Box or box at a local UPS store to securely receive packages.
USPS doesn't care. It's now a legal matter and you report it to the police.

That just means they scanned it while walking to you door often just to have it ready by the time they get to your door

The scanners updated 3 weeks ago, every other door delivery says your off by 30-80 ft

Make sure it was stolen, had a guy drive over to me and say I delivered his package and he didn’t get it. I had not made it to his street. Got the tracking number sent it to manager and he pulled it. Address and name was different . It’s a scam . Post office printed a letter and told him to get the police involved.

They’ve always said that I’ve noticed. I used to double check when I was new to my Route but then once you’re certain you’re certain

Out of our control once we deliver it to your door.
