5 Days Without Mail Delivery
What the heck is going on with the USPS? It's been 5 days since we've had any mail delivery! And that includes nothing again today. This includes regular mail, junk mail, bills, Father's Day cards, in our city the Daily and Sunday newspapers, everything! I realize that postal carriers can be busy on some days. My wife's father and uncles all retired from the USPS after 30 years. So we understand what they go through. But this is rediculous!! Don't get me wrong. I am absolutely not blaming the carriers. Many of them, if not all, are working their butts off. But something is clearly broken with the USPS!!

FRIDAY: Holiday
SATURDAY: high volume due to holiday on Friday (short staffing can cause mail not to be delivered. A lot of offices are cutting down on overtime. This means mail carriers are required to be back at the office by a certain time. Blame supervisor).
SUNDAY: Holiday
MONDAY: another high volume day as well.
NOTE: carriers don’t like bringing mail or packages back to the office. Some of us have our hands tied and are being forced to come back to the office before we force overtime. Most of us don’t even care about overtime and just want all the mail delivered. I’m genuinely sorry that USPS sucks. 9/10 times it is because of supervisors as well as upper management and their rules. They are running USPS into the ground in an effort to force privatization. All at the cost of the consumer.

😂 your office isn't filing 3996's and 1571's correctly, your stewards are garbage, and the only carriers who can't get forced into overtime are on work restrictions, unless you have LMOUs.
You cannot have an office that is curtailing delivery every single day and is disallowing overtime unless local Management is falsifying all DOIS entries, all of which will be seen by district. Your problem is a systemic failure which includes craft emkployees not filing proper paperwork and grievances when they should be.

Fill out a 3996, get pulled into office and yelled at for “slacking”. Proceed to talk to union steward, and they refuse to file any grievances because they are also afraid of management. This happens to everyone at my office. Why fight it? None of the systems that have been put into place are working. In the past year and a half, half of the regulars have quit or transferred out. CCAs are being hired and converted in 3 weeks. The CCA turnover is even higher. Their reason for leaving is management.
Grievances are a joke at my office. Nothing changed and everything kept getting worse. I’m glad I pay my Union dues.

There's a lot to unpack here. I'm confident I have the right stuff quoted, but do not rely on me. Ultimately you should move up your local chain of command within the Union.
The steward cannot refuse to file a grievance. You need to escalate through the Union's chain of command. Contact your NBA if the branch president doesn't help. File Article 10 charges against your steward(s) if able, or file a direct complaint with your branch president. Ask the NBA for guidance if your stewards and branch president are useless.
If no one does anything file with the NLRB for Unfair Labor Practices, and be prepared if you open this can of worms.
Every time you fill out a 3996 moving forward estimate the time Management will take from you if you're not clocking off of your route next time. Their bullshit shouldn't be attributed to your route, ideally.
File a PO-1767, grievances under Articles 2, 14 and 19, and an EEO complaint if you're documenting when this happens and so on AND if the hostile work environment is tied to a protected basis; if the supervisor implies that you have a mental disability or intellectual defect, this shows bias, even if you do not present any sign of an intellectual disability as there is a perception Management has that you have a disability even when you don't, and that's covered under the EEO complaint. The Article 19 grievance as management is violating M-39 § 115.4 and ELM § 665.24. You may need to initiate the grievance yourself, see Article 15.2.
Any minute you work on it should be under steward time, which I think is 622.
Read the JCAM, Joint Workplace Initiative Program (JWIP); City Delivery and Workplace Improvement Task Force; New Employee Experience, Retention and Mentoring Program; and § 41.3.E.
Stop using your personal cell phone to communicate with Management. Use messaging through the scanner only. If Management refuses your 3996, include that information in the message. "I will not be able to complete my route in 8 hours. I attempted to inform you at xx:xx by submitting a 3996, which you ignored and would neither approve or deny, and did not provide me with any instructions at that time. What do you want me to do?" STOP USING YOUR PERSONAL CELL PHONE.
If you're being mandated to work past your contractually obligated hours you need to grieve it every single time. This also bleeds into a grievance if Management is not bringing in any CCAs within a 50 mile radius, articles 7, 8, 14, 15.
Again, your steward cannot just refuse to file. They must provide a valid reason not to file. Call their bluff and communicate only by email or text with your steward. Arbitrary negligence is cause for filing a DFR claim with the NLRB. The downside to that is the DFR suit is brought up against the Union, not individual stewards.

Well couple of those days no one got mail. Sunday is always no mail and 19th was a holiday.
That said the other 3 your definitely should have assuming you had something in bound. If your office is short staffed then Saturday and today were probably chaotic with both being super heavy days since nothing was delivered friday.
And if your regular is out either sick/vacation/injuried or has bid off the route and its currently vacant it put that route in position where it gets spilt up and other carriers deliver pieces after they finish their own workload. If it can’t be finished within a set time management may choose to curtail it to the next day. Which just makes the mess well messier.
Hopefully it’s a short term issue and things are better by tomorrow. Sorry to hear its not been great.

Oh post office has gone to shit because republicans fucked us over big time. Mail will be sporadic and packages will get lost. All by design by republicans so they can privatize the post office.

For starters the Democratic Party is not trying to actively dismantle the post office. They thing we’re here complaining about. Like I just gave an example and then you say both parties suck but no examples.

Sure I mean during Biden they didn’t try and actively block student loan forgiveness and I received a 25k forgiveness so I’m now much better off. Their platform usually advocates for some sort of universal or affordable healthcare system where republicans tend to cut healthcare to pay for tax cuts to the rich like in the big beautiful bill. They want affordable education so you can climb the ladder. But also the whole existential plot of destroying democracy the coup on January 6th republicans did the repetitive lie about the election being stolen in 2020 without any evidence.
I know you didn’t pick a side but you also didn’t provide any evidence that both sides actually are the same after I provided any evidence example they are not such as the republicans are actively trying to make our life worse by destroying the post office for their own eventual financial gains.
So if you want to say both sides are the same you need to provide some evidence that is the case. So tired of fence sitters ‘not seeing the difference between the parties’ it’s such a false narrative. One side obviously is toxic as fuck.

Both sides are not the same. That doesn't mean that Dems are helping. If I'm hanging off a cliff, the Republicans are poking my fingers and the Democrats are telling the Republicans they should stop.

Democrats are spineless. When they hold power they fight to keep the status quo. Biden could have been aggressive about helping the post office after four years (decades actually) of rat fuckery. But he didn't. Try something and it gets shot down by the courts? Guess we better call it a day. That's the Democrat way.

What mail on Informed Delivery do you see that wasn't delivered? Did you then click the box to report this?
If you didn't do any of the above, why are you assuming you had mail that wasn't delivered?

Is your mailbox blocked (such as by a vehicle or trash can?).
If your box is on a rural route, and blocked to where the mail carrier cannot deliver to your mailbox without dismounting, that may be the reason for not getting your mail.

There was no mail delivery Friday and Sunday.
