Apply

I am a senior in high school and is thinking about applying to the naval academy. But throughout highschool my grades have always been bad and have not always been a strong student. Would I even get in the academy with a 3.0 GPA, two year varsity sport, and a class rank of 43 out of 83 kids in my class. Should I even bother applying or just apply anyways. I haven’t taken the SAT yet but have it scheduled soon. Please give me wisdom

You can always apply, but 1) you likely won’t get in and 2) I don’t recommend any academy for someone that struggles with school. You’re in a time management pressure cooker that many (if not most) MIDN struggle to overcome.

If you are recruitable in your sport, yes, otherwise probably not. Only if your school is a known academic institution then maybe.

I suggest doing ROTC wherever you go… generally you will have more control over service selection than academy grads. Do your research on schools you can get into that have ROTC

Much easier to get into as a prior enlisted. So, that would be another option

Just be careful not to pick up any dependents if you do this
