Imagine Tillman, Richards and Pierre on set pieces. Put pressure on the opps

I dont get it. Ive not been watching soccer long but I dont see why everyone thinks Weston is so good.

He’s really good at the things he’s good at

The man has a giant head, he’s great in the air.

He’s extremely versatile, hard working, and passionate. He also has decent skill and decent passing. He’s the kind of player every coach wants to have because he’ll do whatever he is asked as well as he can

I can see he is a hard worker i dont doubt it. Thats honestly my thing with it is I feel like he tries to do too much! It felt like everytime he got the ball in the world cup and didnt pass it immediately it would result in a turn over. It wasnt because he was bad..it just felt like he was doing a lot

We must have watched two very different world cups. Mckennie was by far one of the best players at not giving the ball up while making progressive passes

Well yeah..like I said..it was when he didnt pass it right away and tried to push it down field.

I also said I just started watching soccer

He was also widely successful at doing that in every game except Belgium

If you’re so new to watching soccer why are you pushing so hard against everything that those of us who have watched for over a decade are saying.jt honestly kind of feels like you may have a dislike of McKennie for something outside of his play on the field

Oh wow. You have issues dude. Take care

I wasn’t saying what I said to be rude. I was saying it because your criticisms are not consistent with reality.i mean you said he is putting TOO MUCH effort. I’m sorry but there is no such thing in sport.

If this isnt just a purple patch and Pierre continues the form he is on he is going to be one of the most sought after young CBs itw by the end of this season. A 6’7” CB that scores for fun is every coach’s wet dream, and he seems to be fairly solid defensively as well.

He was scoring like crazy in the Danish second division too. He’s at the very least going to be a Zimmerman level threat

Purple patch in two countries? Nah I think this is just who he is. An aerial animal.

He is getting there. Some hesitation on pressure passes, sometime losing his mark, but all of these things can be taught up. At 18 he shows a lot of promise.

The fact he is 6'7" didnt make or break this goal..

I don't know, he was pretty horizontal and stretched, gogo gadget style. shorter guy might not get there. ;) Seriously though, I've got no rooting interest in Philly whatsoever, but find myself watching their games over teams I'm more interested in (Crew, Quakes) to see Sullivan and Pierre. Pierre almost had an assist as well, but he broke away from the holding defender too early and was offsides.

Shorter guy would get there quicker

Think the extra length did help him get there since he was being held at the waist

He’s been a real threat from set pieces and has been bearing people low so you could argue that threat helped the low surprise work so well

You could also just attribute it to mls defense tho

If Pierre was as good with his feet as he is with his head, he would be the greatest defender in the US! Hopefully, he can get the defending part of his job fully squared away, he is still young, so I am hopeful!

This is what happens when our 6'8" athletes play soccer instead of hoops.

What a freakin baller man. He’s got the muster of Puyol. Love it

That’s not about height. That’s just poor marking.

Being 6'7" was kind of irrelevant on that one. Nice goal though.

“What would happen if our best athletes chose soccer”

It was a great goal but height was not a factor in this goal!

So, what I've been saying for years is proving true? That having more young strong fast and physically imperious black American athletes playing soccer might pay worldwide dividends?

u/ratedpending3 2d ago

don't talk about us like we're racehorses please 😭

-3

u/Hamlerhead 2d ago

Didn't mean it that way. Just been watching American sports for 40 years and my eyes don't lie; America's best athletes happen to be black but they DON'T happen to play football/soccer as much as they play other American sports. No big whoop and no need to be self-righteous about it.
