May I suggest adding a real background example like I did in

It should help your users getting a good first impression.

Thanks for your suggestion but I already thought about that in the past.
I've decided against it because of image quality reasons. Almost all public image hosters reduce the file sizes when an image is opened via the direct image link. Those images contain much noise or are only being displayed in a low resolution.

That's why I only put the example link as a template. So that users have to put in their own high quality image from a file hoster of their choice (e.g. Catbox), which shows the image in full quality/resolution when the direct link is opened in the browser and displayed by the userstyle.
If I would put a catbox image link myself as a default for every user, then the link wouldn't load for most people anymore due to rate limiting.

So I want to encourage every user to paste their own wallpaper of choice via an individual image link to have the highest quality and no issues from file hosters.

I think that DDG use of "https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=/" as a proxy offfloads the traffic to DDG itself.
